I'm sure people caucusing in Iowa were waiting anxiously to see who the Des Moines Register would endorse to decide who they would vote for! What a game changer!

lol you would be soiling yourself with excitement if they'd endorsed Sanders. But this doesn't fit your Sanders Surge narrative, so go ahead and be dismissive.

The Register isn't exactly a king-maker, but it's not inconsequential that they endorsed her. At the very least, I think we can agree their endorsement is a bit more note-worthy than the South Carolina councilmember you all were so excited about earlier today.

You don't know me so don't assume things about me you couldn't possibly know. As a matter of fact, no I wouldn't be soiling myself if they endorsed Bernie. These types of endorsements from publications mean very little.  Joe Rogan endorsing Bernie has much more impact than something like this.

The establishment is shaking.

Bernie got them shook. They're resorting to their final moves.

Should have endorsed Biden instead tbh.

It's Bernie vs Biden now in Iowa. I don't expect this endorsement to make any impact.

Even more importantly, the second of two Frontline Democrats who represent an Iowa district Trump won endorsed Biden today: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/479888-biden-nabs-endorsement-from-democrat-in-iowa-swing-district

I said this in another thread, but I think it's worth noting again the trend of Frontline Members - these 30 or so House Democrats who represent districts Trump won and will have VERY competitive races this year - endorsing Biden. Axne, Finkenauer, Allred, Luria... They'd surely rather campaign alongside Biden than with Sanders. As you know, the GOP will paint all of these House Democrats with a broad brush of "socialism" if they have to share a ticket with an actual socialist. So I'm not surprised they're trying to use whatever influence they have to push people towards Biden.

You are supporting someone who has an issue with the truth just like Trump is. She lied about her heritage. She lied about whether her healthcare plan would increase taxes on americans (Bernie is upfront about it) and she lied about Bernie saying that a woman can't win the presidency.

She has a great record fighting for middle class americans. But she has serious integrity issues. Trump will find it very easy to beat her. He'll just capitalize on that over and over again.

There IS a Sanders Surge at least in Iowa as witnessed by all recent polls and you frame it as a narrative? Lol ok Ms. Alternative Facts :rip:

Then so be it. Democrats were much more leftist before Reagan messed up the whole country and it's time they start representing the interests of common people again. We can't act like the current economy, the current healthcare system is normal, and with an increasing number of Gen Z being eligible to vote, they are overwhelmingly progressive and in favor of, yes, socialism. Undecided republicans are much more likely to vote for someone who will bring about real change than Democrats who don't do anything other than say "at least now we have a female war criminal!" :rip:

Even the liberal Huffington Post ain't so sure the Rogan endorsement is great news (Link

By the way, it's not lost on me that Sanders supporters criticize Biden for occasionally making overtures to Republicans but hail Sanders for getting an actual endorsement from a right-winger. I don't really see how you square those two things - seems like talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Can Progressives just get along 😞 I’d be happy with either of them as our candidate instead of Joe ****ing Biden

Joe Rogan has MILLIONS of listeners who are much more representative of everyday average Americans. His opinions influence people whether you want to acknowledge that or not. Also, he's had right wing and left wing guests no his show. There's so evidence to show that he's a "right-winger". He doesn't seem to identify with either party

I think its telling that their reasoning against Bernie was that... he isn't planning to continue American imperialism and didn't vote for shitty trade deals that actually didn't have the best interests of Iowan farmers in mind:rip:

"He has routinely opposed trade agreements supported by Iowa’s farmers and manufacturers. His rhetoric is so anti-interventionist that one wonders whether he would recognize times when military action is justified as a deterrent. "

But oh well! I hope all of this good press for Warren does what she thinks it will, but tbh, I doubt it. These kinds of endorsements are usually symbolic. The reason someone would cheer if Bernie got one and not other people is that establishment bucking against itself is the kind of thing that regular people find noteworthy - as opposed to the same old same old, and can translate into trends.

It's just like the 2016 Republican Primary. They threw all they had at Donald Trump, but eventually they folded and became lock step with him. (So, the thinking is establishment figures, publications, etc. throwing their lot in with Bernie would be a sign of fracture for them)

Democrats wont do that because while Donald Trump was an affront to the 'order' of the Republican party, he wasn't an affront to their financial and political interests, whereas Bernie threatens establishment Democrats continued existence and reliance on wealthy donors and corporate elites
