Economy 52,932
Just now, Florin said: I think it is easy to lie to a test like this one. Honest people would be weeded out on a test like this. And I consider honesty a good quality In most cases it won't actually have much effect anyway one would think. Ppl can just lie What this test encourages ppl to do is to shut up about their beliefs and lie. Anyone that's actually honest about it may not get in Also unless u can screen out hateful people (extreme example: gays should go to jail or be out to death) this only takes away ppls right to have their own beliefs Canada has largely embraced diversity and different ways of thinking and most ppl are respectful of it. Conservative immigrants here do not cause half the problems conservatives whites do tbh anyway Again Quebec's policies continue to make them drag behind Canada and as a result require continued financial life support for the Province to be sustained That track record alone should tell u something about Quebec policies tbh

RahrahWitch 6,985
I don't see anything wrong with it, It seems like pretty straight forward "Are you Racist/Homophobic/Sexist" questions for the most part. It all depends on how heavily which of the questions impact the immigration process, but better to ask those questions now then deal with it down the line. Yes, but: 1 minute ago, littlepotter said: But it does however make sure they KNOW what they're getting into. This is similar to my experience of getting a U.S. visa. When applying there are like 20 questions like "Do you have plans to engage in prostitution?" or "Do you have plans to engage in drug dealing?" Obviously everyone will say no, but it's really just about warning people that you can't do that.

Depends how far it's taken As long as people aren't hateful or problematic I believe ppl should have the right to have their own values and beliefs Saying someone is not worthy of being in a society because of this or that to me is Someone can pass the "values" test and still be a prick and sh*tty person overall... Other ppl may have a few beliefs that don't align with the test and be loving people or productive ppl I don't think a test like this will necessarily weed out good or bad people. Not to mention most people should have no issue faking a test. If anything you are weeding out people that at least are honest A nation can establish rules for who it lets in and you can't stop that, it's their right. But it doesn't mean I have to agree with it Quebec has often been more conservative than the rest of Canada with immigration and they are.missing out on a lot of the economic benefits Quebec still drains Canada of over $10 Billion a year in equalization payments because they consistently fail to perform at a comperable level I'm not SUPER against this cuz it does have a certain logic and arguments to make in favour of it too... But overall Im still inclined to say I don't support it Your post lacks Quebec's perspective. As a very small french speaking minority in a sea of anglos (Rest of Canada, US), their approach to language, culture, and immigration is and will always be naturally different, and often more protective, because of the constant attacks/invasion/weakening that necessarily underlie its minority position. Also, Quebec still welcomes a lot of immigrants.

If an immigrant shares those beliefs, they aren't worthy of being in a Canadian society imo Agreed but most ppl who for religious reasons let's say don't agree with homosexuality don't necessarily want gays killed There's different degrees of where values will go and I'm not sure this test can gage that Again conservative whites in Canada are way more problematic than immigrants who respect our society and keep their beliefs to themselves There's way more hate crimes from Conservative Canadians than immigrants Also again, for many decades Quebecs society and economy consistently underperms the Nation. That alone should make one question how intelligent their politics truly are We have to transfer them some $120 Billion a decade for them to function cuz even with the second biggest population (after Ontario) and cannal access for trade with US and th world they cannot sustain themselves (at least to the standards the Federal Government accepts)

Gov Hooka 8,008
Quebec should also administer the test to some of its "citizens" who are members of "Canada's progressive society" Not surprised a law like this passes in the xenophobic "south" of Canada BC, Alberta, and Ontario>>>>>Quebec

Also, Quebec still welcomes a lot of immigrants. I get their perspective is different But I also think it's quite clear that their protectionism has held them quite back The restrictions on immigration has also given them a more critical demographic crisis as their population is more aged not helped by the high immigration in the rest of Canada They've also chosen to have their own retirement system (they are not part of Canada's CPP) so they will have to deal with that crisis on their own

It's by far our most conservative Province especially when it comes to economy and environment (the Conservative party there won 40 years in a row) But in terms of immigration specifically Quebec is definitely the most conservative
