#8: Two Doors Down (1977)

          p02c8cwg.jpg&f=1&nofb=1

Average Score: 8.5

High Score: 10 @Ronk @Davian @Enzo @Lois Griffin

Low Score: 6 @Aarghya

Comments:

@Lois Griffin ~ “Probably my favorite Dolly Parton song. On the surface this another iconic Dolly Parton storytelling song (although I think it's in a league of its own in Dolly's discography), but on the other hand you have an implicit message that I've found to be incredibly helpful at times. Why are you at home crying and ruining your own night when everyone else is having a good time? Go have fun!”

Chart Information:

US Billboard Hot 100: #19 (12 Weeks on Chart)

US Adult Contemporary: #12 (13 Weeks on Chart)

Canadian RPM Top Singles: #26

Canadian RPM Adult Contemporary: #7

Song Information:

“Two Doors Down” served as the second single from her album “Here You Come Again” (released in 1977). A song about overcoming feeling down, it was written by Parton during a time in which she was adjusting to Hollywood. Fun Fact: It was the song Jane Fonda heard in the car that made her decide to cast Dolly in the hit film “9 to 5”. “Here You Come Again” (the album) would end up being certified platinum and peak in the Top 20 of the Billboard 200.

Rumours' is too busy redoing the numbers to make sure that there isn't any rioting before the end of this.

Random thought but I really wish they would've done a dance remix of this song for Dumplin' like they did with Jolene and Here You Come Again. It seems perfect for that type of treatment but I can't find any remixes online.

My 11 and five of my 10s are still intact.

I live outside the space time continuum.

#7: It's All Wrong, But It's All Right (1977)

                  c9406977-1b20-430f-bc82-89a9d74408c3-206

Average Score: 8.54

High Score: 10 @OG Gaga Stan @Ronk @KatieJudasGaga4 @Animal Claws

Low Score: 6 @Oriane

Comments:

@Lois Griffin ~ “She's perfectly fine but she can't help but be jealous that she doesn't possess the vernacular of her b-side Two Doors Down.  As fans of Dolly Parton we can go back and forth about whether or not we prefer the Dolly or the Whitney version of I Will Always Love You, but as a member of the LGBT community and a person with taste I'm compelled to say that Whitney shat all over this song with "It's Not Right But It's Okay" (obviously the Thunderpuss remix which is canon).”

Chart Information:

US Hot Country Songs: #1 (14 Weeks on Chart)

Canadian RPM Country Tracks: #1

Song Information:

Dolly has said in the past that of all the singles she has released, she was surprised the most that this one actually wasn’t banned on Country radio. Released as a Double A-Side with Two Doors Down, it reached #1 on the country charts during the “Here You Come Again” era. “Here You Come Again” (the album) would end up being certified platinum and peak in the Top 20 of the Billboard 200.
