Song Information

Peaking at #1, “Love is Like A Butterfly was her third consecutive #1 after Jolene and IWALY. Interestingly, this was considered Parton’s signature song during the period and was utilized for the theme song to her 1976/1977 variety show “Dolly!”. The album “Love is Like A Butterfly” also peaked at #7 on the US Country Charts, spending 23 weeks on this chart. Despite the commercial success, the song has been missing from the set lists of a lot of Parton’s recent tours. It has nonetheless remained a favorite for many fans.

Song Information:

After the successful album eras that were “Here You Come Again” and “Heartbreaker”, Parton closed the 1970s with what was her most pop album thus far. The “Great Balls of Fire” album’s lead single was the track “You’re The Only One”, which was sent to radio in June of 1979. It is of note that this is the third lead single in a row which was actually not written by Parton herself. Regardless, it became her Fifth consecutive chart topper since 1977. The Great Balls of Fire album ended up being certified Gold in the U.S., peaking at #40 (17 Weeks) on the Billboard 200.
