Economy 52,861
https://globalnews.ca/news/6414358/betelgeuse-dying-supernova/amp/ Betelgeuse, one of the largest stars in our entire Galaxy (and not that far away in the grand scheme of things) had its brightness drop by over half in 2019 signaling that the red giant could be extremely close to the end of its life and because the star is so huge (and not that far), when it explodes it could be as bright as the moon for weeks The rapid decline in brightness could mean it's on the verge of going Nova, but then again it could just as easily be unstable irratic cycles that happen near the end of a stars life (but maybe not right, right at the end) we don't fully know about or understand yet. While scientists say we could witness it at any moment, it could also take another 100,000 years to happen Because life spans of stars are so long (even very large ones), a phase in its life cycle lasting even marginally longer than anticipated can be many Millenia added But if we are lucky we will witness the biggest super Nova humanity has even known

Glamourpuss 29,080
That's the star I always seem to notice the most when I'm looking at the sky with Google sky map and it's my fave because I like it's name. I'm shocked to think that it could die out in my lifetime. That would be pretty cool to see.

Did you know that Betelgeuse means Armpit of the giant? it comes from a french rendering of the arabic name yad al-jauza (try to imagine it as if a french person would say that and it would sound something like Betelgeuse) The giant refers to Orion and the armpit is the place it holds in the constellation Buy ARTPOP on itunes or smth? Thanks for sharing. It's weird to think that one of the major constellations could permanently change forever.

It may have died already for all we know since it takes so much time for the light from it to actually get to us It's so cool to think that when u look up at the sky ur actually seeing dots each from a different point in time. It's mind boggling
