Finally, now I can make it on the charts all by myself without the help of others :huntyga:

I think this will help prevent meme songs from gaining a disproportionate amount of chart visibility. I'd like it if the songs that charted were ones that people listened to unironically, rather than a joke everyone wanted to participate in. But Old Town Road is far from the first jokey hit song, and it won't be the last.

So labels are going to crackdown on fan videos even more now?

The ppl who do reaction videos need to find a new career

I see this being a whole sh.it storm. Artists and labels will now suffer, so they will start to push back on unofficial uploads, YouTube will start cracking down on unofficial uploads and become even more strict about their rules on music being used in videos, probably start deleting and copyright striking creative videos (like those ARTPOP lyric videos that look amazing and better than anything we were actually given), users will clap back and get angry about losing their freedom on the platform. What a mess :saladga:

Why the change though anyway? It makes sense to count unofficial videos because people are still using them to listen to the music. It's more accurate to count them.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Billboard said unofficial video uploads will still count albeit less than official ones. What won't count anymore, however, are videos with a very short appearance of a song e.g. Tik Tok compilations.

Oh! That makes much more sense. People watch Tik Tok and the likes mindlessly and only hear a small portion of the song, so that shouldn't count as a listen. I'm surprised they counted those at all to begin with. I always assumed only full length songs ever counted in the first place.

Turns out it was Chart Data and not Billboard who said it. Still a reliable source I guess. :selena:
