Even on their own ppl their standards are subpar Many equality rights, or things like military conscription, death penalties in many states, use of torture in Federal/Military interrogations etc... They have consistently dragged behind other developed nations in progressive freedom and being a just society... Middle Eastern Oil isn't even that relevant to the US anymore for energy security anyway And the 1 Country that still supplies the US with any meaningful amount of oil still (Saudi Arabia) is usually in fair terms with the US anyway and freely supplies it (and they keep tight control on their oil resources so it's not even like the US could control any of it if they tried) So to me these oil conspiracies make little sense They're just short-sighted attempts for people to jump on a hate band wagon. I see threads all the time mocking my country even when its about my country doing progress. I am never offended and sometimes agree with them. Americans are one of the few people in the world that are able to be subjective and criticize their won country to make it better, this is a good and unique thing.
