Did Gaga really break her hip back then....

... Or was it the Fibromyalgia and she just didn't knew? But if I remember correctly, she said her hipbones like really cracked? Or is it possible it was the neuropathic chronic pain but since back then it was still not researched well enough and people didn't take it seriously, she basically had to "invent" a condition or nobody would believe that she is in constant strong pain? Just wondering. It must be horrible to suffer this long day for day, I really hope therapies and medicine can sooth her body pain enough. :(

well I remember she had a surgery done at that time, so i think she actually broke the hip, it's called 'hip labral tear' you can even google it and it shows lady gaga due to the reports back then

She really broke it.

I believe what happened was she was feeling lots of pain ("full body pain" she said at the time) for months during the BTWB. Probably caused by her undiagnosed fibro, as well as her untreated mental illness. Then she hurt her hip, probably a relatively minor injury from dancing, but didn't realize it. Because everything hurt, she didn't recognize it as anything different and just kept dancing every night.

The injury (a labral tear) went untreated and got worse and worse, and eventually her hip bone itself deteriorated. She had to have surgery to repair it, and she might have a pin in it I think.

As in a labral tear, yes. Not a pelvic fracture. You can't perform with a pelvic fracture.

I mean doing it with a labral tear was bad enough too but if it were a fracture, she couldn't stand up.

A labral tear is like a really really bad sprain except it's in your hip instead of your ankle. Imagine.

What she had then was acute. Her chronic pain is different and it's possible her acute condition got ignored because she was in chronic pain enough for her not to realize the acuteness of the problem when she did have a labral tear.

She talked about the injury and surgery in this interview.

Thanks, I've been trying to find this article.

“My injury was actually a lot worse than just a labral tear,” she says. “I had broken my hip. Nobody knew, and I haven’t even told the fans yet. But when we got all the MRIs finished before I went to surgery there were giant craters, a hole in my hip the size of a quarter, and the cartilage was just hanging out the other side of my hip. I had a tear on the inside of my joint and a huge breakage. The surgeon told me that if I had done another show I might have needed a full hip replacement. I would have been out at least a year, maybe longer.”

How come she doesn't seem to have any scarring? I know she can afford some top surgeons but they've done a hell of a job because you can't tell she's had anything done.

Maybe it was a procedure that could be done laparoscopically? That’s a wild guess I have no idea which surgeries can be done like that :flop:

When the accident happened though, she couldn't stand up at all... she continued performing Schieße crouched down on stage

She also said she smoked so much weed as self medication and that’s why it got worst

I think the tear happened around 4 months before that montreal video

Title reminds me when people were saying she had a hip injury for marketing purpose and low ticket sales. :spin:

Answer: Yes, she had a tear in her hip which caused the injury. She was aware of the pain since September 2012 but never told anyone.

And then she got up and left the stage, and came back for Marry The Night during which she sort of "ran" across the stage. This is simply not possible with a fracture. She had more than just a labral tear (now that I read the quote above) but it wasn't a fracture for sure.

I know Gaga is a warrior and stuff but literally no one can do that with a hip fracture.

Her labral tear probably happened earlier and she kept performing with it until she got complications. I'm not saying Gaga is lying, I'm saying she might have misunderstood exactly what was going on. People also often use common language for things that isn't medically accurate.

My dad is an orthopedic surgeon and has performed full hip replacements too. I'll ask him about this case.
