they are not native to australia, so I understand I guess

but like gurl, like how about you do something about the climate crisis, causing thousands to lose their homes, including many of my friends, causing people from my home town to wake up to this this morning

oh, and even better, Scott Morrison, while these fires were going on, went on holiday to Hawaii, WTF, and seemed very disingenuous and rude to the people of a town that burned down, and he still refuses to do anything about the ongoing climate crisis

Lets do it baby I know the Law

So.. just out of curiousity, how would you handle this? What would you suggest to the Australian govt to do about the camels?

Take responsibility and provide water supply for them.

Maybe use a little bit of the huge amount of money they're making off coal (which is contributing to these droughts) to actually create water resources for everyone?

If they're doing this I'd hope they utilize 100% of the camels slaughtered.. skin/leather/fur/meat/bone can be used, and 10,000 is a fkton of them. Also if (when) the water runs out even without the camels then...?

Wow what if we shoot 10,000 people for polluting too much. I mean the camels aren’t guilty for being introduced to a foreign ecosystem by humans desire

Probably start killing the humans as well. I mean it's not like they will become extinct. So why not?

Do you think these options have never entered the minds of none of them government officials of Australia? Do you think it comes down to cost and priorities, feasibility? Truly a tragedy for the camels.

Australian government has no moral principles. So I'm not surprised.

The least they can do is let summer season pass and rainfall will be back in a month or two anyway.

I hope they manage to sell them off to another country instead. There are plenty of nations that use camels. Australian camels tend to be those found in Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan's arid regions I believe. Hopefully they can repatriate them there?

Cattle also don't belong in Australia. How about they shut down their enormous grass-fed beef industry and stop deforesting their rainforests while they're at it.

Agreed, but unfortunately that appears to be just wishful thinking as far too many people enjoy beef (and some other meats) at the cost of our planet :/

But I just know that certain people are going to come into this thread screaming that everyone but them is biased and wrong, despite there being plenty of scientific evidence refuting their statements, once again :saladga:

Lord Temptation

Camels outcompete with native fauna for food. They are an invasive species, and should not have been allowed to grow exponentially and uncontrollably in the way that they have. That said, I hope they at least try to save the animals and send them to countries that need or value them. Or if killing is the only viable way, make sure they are killed humanely with their meats sold rather than just wasted.

Killing camels is the last thing people should get up in arms over.

These are invasive animals, get a grip.

Do you feel him sir?

So originally I was going to query as to why there were camels in Australia, but... honestly, it is a totally classic English colonizer move to go “oh, hey, this continent has a desert.  Ya know what goes great in deserts?  CAMELS!!!  Let’s import some camels.”    :smh:

I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.
