REALITY

I'm interested to see if this'll boost up her numbers enough to really  compete with Biden and Sanders. I don't think it will, but it's interesting nonetheless.

The reason why I switched off of Warren and to Sanders was because at this point, I see this as a two-way race between Biden and Sanders. If Warren picks up steam though, I don't know...

Didn't see that coming. I guess it fits in with the "Obama officials endorsing Warren en masse against Joe" exodus rn, but it won't do much for her (its also like, weirdly early? Maybe she thinks it'll give her a 1-2% boost she needs to offset the press about her fundraising dropping, but i doubt it tbh)

Oh well. Bernie is obviously the better option because he stands for everything Warren does and more. Especially considering his record on war which is very relevant right now and knowing that Biden, Warren all have been in favor of these bloody and mindless wars but go off I guess.

The same people who think the war is entirely Trump's fault will gladly support Democratic candidates who approve Trump's military budget. :triggered:

When will Americans realize that in terms of war, we have been living in a one party system and only very few candidates like Bernie challenge the status quo? (Technically Tulsi does too but I don't like her for other reasons).

I found this really interesting. Just a few years ago, Elizabeth Warren withheld endorsing a candidate (much to Bernie Bros' great disdain) because she knew she could use her outsized influence in the party to pressure the candidates (and the party as a whole) to adopt a platform that was closer to her policy positions than they otherwise would. And in fact, she was "aggressive" in her list of demands from Clinton in order to earn her endorsement: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2019/12/19/elizabeth-warren-hillary-clinton-economy-087346

So, I think it was a bit amateurish of Castro to endorse a candidate so early after he dropped out. He could have made hay of it, especially since it's well-known that he wanted to push the party to the left on immigration. But maybe he knows something we don't (like a promised VP or key cabinet post).

I would gag so hard if all the candidates became cabinet members

But at the same time, it would be arguments every day.

Or Warren put her career over the "big structural changes" first. Don't get me wrong, I would be enthusiastic if she's president but in the primary, no, especially because of war. The Obama administration gave her an appointed position and it's no secret the Clintons and Obamas were friends and would do things similarly. Endorsing Hillary might've been in exchange for an appointed position like you suggest for Castro.

Well, there's the kicker isn't it?

Bernie is the furthest left on Immigration, not Warren. So, its clearly an insider game where he doesn't believe Bernie has a chance at the nomination or he just trusts the Obama-Clinton machine to deny it to him,  therefore he is hedging his bets to go with the only malleable candidate he sees still in the race. (Joe is a rock and doesn't want to be seen as progressive at all)

Unfortunately, she has yet to show any signs of a rebound from her fall from 2nd creeping up to 1st to what is now at times a distant 3rd. If this is his biggest issue, you would think he would support the person who is most aligned with him, but the anti-Bernie bias is so strong he has to work against his own interests to try to *salvage* things.

It's weird though, because Warren is already the second most left candidate on Immigration, so I really don't see how this is going to work out for him.

Like, neoliberalism is truly a disease. If Castro wants a position in someone's cabinet, or just influence over helping them decide, or just to move the overton window on an issue, he should pick the person who is most likely to help him do that  Ofc, he may have other priorities or reasons, but its sad that the smartest option (support the candidate with the strongest message and who currently still has a chance of winning) is being discounted over the political option (support the candidate in 3rd because it might result in more power for you as an individual over your policy proposals)

That's usually for the election cycles. They show they're cut from the same cloth once they get elected or appointed.

Sorry I'm a bit disillusioned. The Iran situation should be a wakeup call for people to know which Democrats to trust and which ones to hold accountable.

No I’m the same way. So I understand. Like right after the assassination, Everyone said the same schtick. “Yes, he’s a bad man but...”

I’m glad Bernie said something more defiant.

Agreed.

Also, a bit more ot:

The Obama people should've jumped all over endorsing Warren when she was at her top to help her weather some of the storm of her backing away from and fumbling the M4A issue  If they had done it right, she could be in first or very close to at this point, but her campaign keeps making very avoidable mistakes and it hurts me a bit to watch as a former supporter and a big personal admirer of Liz.

Yeah, Adam Schiff's statement was so conceited. "The world is better off with Sulemani but Trump should've at least told us!" Like, hon, :awkney: Not going through Congress is an issue but not the issue. The issue is the POTUS committing a reckless and dangerous act of escalation and destroying International Relations.

Whispering

Called Castro as a probable VP pick a while back. My guess is that he is in talks with Warren to be on her ticket.

The white male candidates are going to pick a female POC. Warren was going to select a male POC. I figured Castro and Booker were in the running.
