Let Me Love You by Ne-Yo was one of the first examples I remember doing very little on the sales side but radio liking it. STYB was another. It’s nothing more than that though. Like I said, the radio payola argument is debunked when you think about how these artists don’t just do this for their other weak songs. I remember this thread back in 2012-2014 claimed everything Katy put out was payola. As soon as she put out Birthday and TIWHD and they consecutively flopped on radio the talks of “payola” stopped as if Katy and her team just decided to pull the plug.
