Also, there was destruction of property, but no deaths or serious injuries. Maybe you are referring to the Kirkuk military base attack that killed a U.S. Civillian Contractor and wounded 4 others on the 27th. That was done by Hezbollah, the militia Iran backs. A better timeline: 1) U.S. breaks Nuclear Deal, despite Iran continuing to uphold its part, along with Europe. 2) U.S. Ties Sanctions to Russia (something Dem's want) to Sanctions to Iran (something Republicans want) It passes 98-2 in the Senate, doing massive damage to Iranian economy. 3) Iran lashes out in small skirmishes, culminating in attack on a military base that kills 1 civillian contractor and wounds 4 others 4) U.S responds with air strikes against the militia 4) Protests break out at U.S. Embassy in Iraq protesting those air strikes + continued U.S. presence in the region 5) Trump assassinates major Iranian General apparently on word of plans of further attacks.
