Bernie Set To Raise Historic 5 Million Total Contributions

Senator Elizabeth Warren’s slip in the 2020 primary polls has been accompanied by a dip in donations, with her campaign setting a rare public goal: aiming to raise $20 million for the fourth quarter of 2019 ending Tuesday, or about 20 percent less than what she raised in the previous three-month period.

Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., meanwhile, has rebounded from a weak third quarter, in which he raised only $15.7 million and spent $2 million more than he took in. Now his campaign is trying to assert his front-runner status in the Democratic race, pushing in the final 48 hours of the year to post “our biggest fund-raising quarter yet,” as Mr. Biden wrote in an email on Sunday, by topping the $21.5 million he raised last spring.

Mr. Sanders is expected to remain a financial pacesetter in the 2020 contest. He has about 1.6 million individual donations this quarter alone and is nearing a goal of five million total contributions. With an average donation of $18 for the year, and slightly less than that now, the numbers suggest he has already raised about $26 million in the fourth quarter — more than any Democratic candidate has raised in any quarter this year.

No other 2020 candidate has announced reaching three million donations for the year.

Mr. Buttigieg is closing in on two million donations (he has more than 1.95 million, according to campaign emails). That means he has already received more than 700,000 contributions this quarter, his most in a three-month period. He recently said his average donation was around $30, suggesting a haul of more than $21 million. Mr. Buttigieg raised $19.1 million and $24.6 million in the previous two quarters.

You know, I've been behind Warren for the past few months, but now I'm really starting to like Bernie Sanders.

Especially as we get closer and closer to Iowa, I think it's time to really focus on Sanders or Biden. While Warren has been doing really well, I do think that this is going to be largely a Biden vs. Sanders race for the nominee. Though, I'd love for her to be VP!

This article completely contradicts your statement, though...You say that he's "still not connecting with new voters", yet in this quarter alone he has 1.6 million donars. Obviously he connects with people.

Speaking of "new voters" though, which voters are you referring to? Younger people? Because Bernie's got that covered.

I'm referring to voters that are new to him. He can hit up the same people over and over again for another $27. That's going to get him MONEY, which is what the article is talking about, but he's not getting any new votes. One person can donate one dollar 2,700 times, and that counts as 2,700 donations, but that one person can only vote once, and counts as one vote.

That could be said about literally any candidate though. But again, the article states that in this quarter alone he has 1.6 million individual donars. Sure, people can donate to him multiple times, but you can't deny the fact that he has very popular support.

Bernie is the only candidate in this Democratic primary (aside from Biden) that has shown consistent support throughout his campaign.

the weird thing is, when i stopped donating the little that i did to warren, suddenly a whole lot of other people did too lol. that's when her fund raising began slipping. tbh i'm broke.

Actually, she's polling 2% behind Pete Buttigieg nationally at 5%, and double digits in Iowa. That's no small feat considering she started with literally ZERO name recognition, and doesn't have tens of millions of dollars at her disposal. She's running a truly grassroots organization and taking the campaign to the people where they are. On the other hand, even with all that money, Bernie isn't connecting with anyone new. He's hit his cap on voters.

Well, I've always loved Bernie. I loved him in 2016, and I loved him here too. He was without a doubt my second choice. I just liked Warren a bit more. I still do really like her, and again, I think a Sanders/Warren ticket is the way to go.

That said, I think more people need to start being practical about who's actually going to be the nominee and starting backing them up. I know we're not even in Iowa yet, but by this time next year we already would've elected (HOPEFULLY) a new president.  

Sanders and Biden are the only two have that consistently been #1 and #2, so in my opinion, this is a race between those two. While I certainly do like some other candidates, at this point for people like Klobuchar, Yang, Buttigieg, STEYER, etc., it's time that we start backing more pragmatic candidates.

I'm sorry, but the fact that your rebuttal is that "actually, she's polling 2% behind Pete Buttigieg nationally at 5%" is kinda laughable...

Listen, I actually kind of like Klobuchar. I think for a moderate Democrat she's fine (I would actually choose her over Biden), but she's simply not getting the nomination.
