Why is "I Don't Know What Love Is" so underappreciated?

To me it's one of Gaga's best songs and an absolute highlight of the ASIB era. The vocal performance she showcases in it is unlike any other songs she has, and the restrained vulnerability of the lyrics is a side of Gaga we very rarely get to see. The heavenly/angel imagery is also adorable. Yet, it is  hardly talked about and no one ever names it as their favorite. Why is that?

Ikr? It's a lovely song and the only one on the album where I actually enjoy Brad's voice (sorry, just being honest :selena:).

Not to mention the line "I don't know the tempo of my heart's concerto" which is beyond beautiful. One of my faves from the soundtrack, no doubt.

You raise a good point. When I looked around on youtube, I found out that Gaga is actually the first person to make a song named "I Don't Know What Love Is", which is a surprise considering what a  frequent topic it is in music.

I Want to Know What Love Is by Foreigner is the spiritual predecessor of this song

I don't think it's underappreciated because I saw many on this site praising it. It's just not that much of a highlight that makes you go ''wow''. :laughga:

You are not the first person to mention this...but I don't get how? They do not sound similiar and other than the 1 line making up the title, they don't have a lot of lyrical similiarities either.

I would love to ask Gaga what went through her head when writing this song.
