Hollow Eve is a bio queen and she’s one of the best performers and most artistic drag queens I’ve ever seen. She was just on Dragula which is a drag competition, so I would say she is taken seriously.

I'd also say Lady Gaga is a drag queen to some extent

Actually it’s true. Or at least she was, back in TFM and BTW days. She did say drag has been a huge inspiration for her in her career.

White feminists disincluding women of color when the women's rights movement took off teas.

I definitely think the majority of her career you could say she was a drag queen. From TFM to ARTPOP, even some moments during Joanne and then at the Met Gala... I like to think of Stefani as the regular smegular girl from New York, and Lady Gaga the drag queen superhero that has helped so many with her incredible talents and fashion. Not saying they are two different people though, of course they are the same person... but Lady Gaga is Stefani+  in my eyes idk

yeah never heard of her

she’s a non-issue as much as she is a non-celebrity

I wouldn't say she is massive but she is certainly well known in the UK and she has been on many TV programmes talking about womens rights

This reminds me heavily of what J.K. Rowling is doing - These people have always been dumbasses who are uneducated and arrogant, the only thing they're good at is hitting the tweet button. Drag isn't meant to 'mock women' or whatever her fans are trying to argue, it has always been very political/a commentary on gender-roles and how it limits expression/identity. She is purposefully misinterpreting it because she is desperate to conjure up a controversial tweet.

why the need to slam the struggle women have been through in order to make your point?   As if women have not been enslaved and killed over the years and faced patriarchal dominance throughout their history.

There’s no need to compare marginalized groups though...

Women and POC have different issues, but that doesn’t mean that one is necessarily better or worse off than the other. In places like the Middle East or parts of Latino countries, women would be considered “worse off” than POC.

At the end of the day, we just need to support and respect one another.

Hmm... no, I wish people would stop using the middle east as an argument for any social justice thing that fits a point. I'm sure my mother is much better off than her ethiopian maid who is basically a modern slave.

-the comparison to blackface is idiotic

-i don't see how that was against trans rights though

-i adore drag but i do sometimes ask myself if they are not stereotyping women too much

But there are places in the Middle East that don't see women equal to men, or at the very least, there are heavy restrictions on women that are not placed on men...

I think women have it terrible. I really do. I think all the girls on here if they have gone through some bad things will probably go through some really bad things in the future. I also think that that they go through those things and still do everything she mentioned is amazing. I have two nieces and I am honestly terrified by what they will have to endure in the future sometimes.

That said, it's entertainment. Drag shows are not about reality they are about escaping reality.

Also they aren't portraying women on these shows; they are portraying men who dress in women's clothing.  That's why I have never seen a trans woman win. Because they aren't looking for the prettiest or the  the one who appears to "mimic" a woman the most. That's not what they are judging and I think she missed the point.

But it's TV she can easily change the channel.
