Surely that is subjective based on a range of factors (location, culture, public/private etc). I understand your point though and I applaud. Of course there are countries like Saudi Arabia where they have only just started to accept women but they have a looooooong way to go. Women can be more than the “working mom of 3 making food for the kids!!11” narrative she’s saying. Women can be bio drag queens, women can be sex workers, anything they want to be. As a feminist she should know that. The only thing I slightly disagree with in your statement is that people of colour face more prejudices than women since woman of colour exist (hello?) It’s an inherently political art form where traditionally male performers imitate feminine genders in ways that are at times crass and intentionally disgusting. So they have a right to an opinion. I don’t take issue with drag. I think it’s an important art form with performers of all genders, each with a different vision. Women and POC have different issues, but that doesn’t mean that one is necessarily better or worse off than the other. In places like the Middle East or parts of Latino countries, women would be considered “worse off” than POC. At the end of the day, we just need to support and respect one another. As a woman, not only does she have the right to voice her option on the matter, but she have a point with drag shows, everything projected on these shows mimic ‘women’ in the most demeaning & stereotypical way.
