Designed by Franc Fernandez and styled by Nicola Formichetti, the meat dress was actually Gaga’s third outfit of the night after she wore looks from Alexander McQueen and Giorgio Armani. The look featured a whole dress made from meat, plus shoes and a headpiece, which Gaga teamed with blue dip-dyed hair and a thick choker. Explaining the dress to Ellen DeGeneres, she said: ‘If we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.’ After being taxidermied and treated with bleach, formaldehyde and detergent, the meat dress went on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. #14. Lady Gaga at the 2011 Grammys Lady Gaga has been pushing the envelope since 2008 with her fashion – and in 2011, we were treated to one of the more interesting entrances in the Grammys’ 60 year history. The star was carried onto the red carpet by four half-dressed servants in latex underwear, as she lay inside a giant egg. Gaga later corrected us all and explained it was a ‘vessel’, rather than an egg, and told Ryan Seacrest she had been in the container for 72 hours. She said: ‘I was in there for about 72 hours, and it was a very creative experience, and it was time for me to prepare and really think about the meaning of [Born This Way] and get prepared for the performance.
