S0436 10,215
Simple rules to abide by: does the country/city have gay pride events and a gay district? If so, it is fine. Does the country block grindr? If so, avoid.

ilocorB 548
I grew up in Canada and experienced a lot of homophobia, It’s sad to think that in the second safest country, it can still be hard. I can’t imagine how hard it must be and I feel lucky even though I’ve experienced homophobia a lot. When I was living in the countryside, I experienced it daily at school and a lot of times at work. I got beat up, insulted, bullied, received death threats or people would avoid talking or touching me. Since I moved into the biggest city in my province, I have never experienced any homophobia at all. Urban areas are way safer than the countryside. Sarah H 4,375
No real surprises on either of those lists to me. It's a shame so many places/people in the world are still so unaccepting of LGBTQ+ people though.

I might be fine per google: "Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity is banned in certain cities, including Tokyo. Tokyo Rainbow Pride has been held annually since 2012, with attendance increasing every year. A 2015 opinion poll found that a majority of Japanese support the legalisation of same-sex marriage."
