All these people in this thread pressed over the actions of a literal child :lmao: The fact that Greta has trump pressed was laughable already, but some of the replies here... :green:

Anyway Greta is a great person and is bringing attention to one of the most important and urgent problems that we have right now, she shouldnt chill

When the Atlantic Ocean will be flooding the East Coast, he will change his tune.

Sad thing is Trump is too old to live to a time when earths climate problems will reach their peak

But even if he did, considering how stubborn he is something tells me he still wouldn't admit climate change is real

He's old enough to be able to see differences in climate since he was young so if he still denies it I dunno what could convince someone that stubburn :triggered:

Did he lie?

At least she's doing something about it to save our planet, unlike you or most are doing just pretending as if nothing is wrong, everything is fine, and being the wasteful people that we are. :bye:

I hope she continues to NOT chill and to inspire others to do the same. Cause now is not the time to be complacent and continue about our regular lives.

How sad that it took a CHILD to realize that and get all you pressed about it.

Please do not act like you know just the slightest thing about me or the things I do, it’s not the truth and makes you look super dumb xx

I wanna explain my opinion on her

i think that what she is doing is good and for a good cause but it’s OBVIOUS that she’s a puppet and what she says is just a script she’s reading.

That’s what I don’t like about her, it’s not that she’s a teen that stands up for what she believes in, it’s that there’s nothing behind the words she speaks

Don't get me wrong. I'm on board with 100% of what u said just now.

But I'm talking about personal every day decisions that make a difference...

Leaving ur car idling, how devoted are u to recycling, walking when it's short distances and you have the time... For example when I go to a fast food restaurant I always ask for them not to give me the bags or straws cuz it's literally not needed and is just garbage... Leaving lights on or showers may not be the biggest impact but it doesn't mean there isn't some degree of impact

I'm not talking about controlling what ppl can and can't do. Communism is a very extreme interpretation of what I just said

I'm talking about people being more mindful in their everyday decisions... When it's billions of people collectively, it makes a difference... I'm not saying to put the work on the people INSTEAD of the government and the big companies... I'm saying to do it IN ADDITION to. People have a less major impact than people with more power shouldn't get u off the hook to do nothing

Even if it's a smaller impact than policies... If we truly are that close to the breaking point then every bit matters and ppl shouldn't shift responsibility to someone else because it's inconvenient

In fact that's a big issue I see with society. Everyone wants change as long as they aren't the ones that have to make any sacrafices for it

And I was also talking about those every decisions: they are not the core of the problem.

For example, taking an electrical uber driving around on green energy, what's the point of walking if you don't want to? Same for leaving an electrical car idle. Plastic bags? Plastic sortering and filtering techniques used at garbage dumps are getting better and better... recycling is effective because others do it for people, not because people consciously recycle. I don't know how many people around you consciously separate everything, but I know few. Showering? It's only a problem if there is some sort of water shortage.

I have a problem with this "every bit matters" theory you put forward.. if the severity of the problem is so high.. wouldn't it especially be the things that make considerable impact to tackle first? Instead of the little luxury things we do on a daily basis that have neglectable impact? That is punishing those who are not responsible and beating around the bush. It's also very common for people nowadays to judge you if you eat meat, for example, and this is not the way to go about this, I find. Which is why I said it leans towards communism, where people decide what is the norm or expected normal behavior, and if you don't comply, you will be socially isolated and stuff.

If you want to talk about personal impact, why should normal folks be punished for flying to a country for a holiday once a year while Gaga, every other celeb or CEO, is flying around the world all the time?

It's not the commoners that need to sacrifice something. We should definitely shift responsibility to those who are responsible. It's McDonald's and their chicken nuggets meat suppliers, for example, but not those eating it.

No no everything u said makes perfect sense!

But not all cars are electric yet... Not all energy us green yet... The government can take care of these root causes as u said

But until they do... Our actions DO have an impact

Until the fundamental stuff is fully fixed, the actions that stem from them continue to have an impact... And that's where our actions still matter

I honestly don't see what's so bad about ppl being more mindful than they are :rip:

Hm. maybe I just have a feeling that it's unfair.

Also, this reality thing which makes me see that others don't want to do it, so why should I end up on the losing end of this game? It's everyone or noone. Like gosh is it so hard to make a BINDING paris climate agreement?

Perhaps some countries and governments also think like that and that's the problem why commitments aren't being taken seriously by every Nation :selena:

And usually those governments are elected by people. Who are we to demand everyone else care about this planet?

Now this is going deep into philosophy :air:

I dunno... Guess that's why u gotta keep the environment in mind when u vote

Like I always say... Governments may be corrupt...

But ppl sometimes really don't help matters... Either by not being informed and easily manipulated, or sometimes by not demanding the right things...

There's lots of blame to go around ppl of all sorts rich, poor and political class alike. Gets too complicated to try and figure out who has what share of the problems anyway

We just gotta focus on doing more

Back to my original point, of course I want governments to do more but how hypocritical would I be if I did nothing?

So I do my part in little things. I don't claim to be perfect. There's a limit to how much I'm willing to sacrafice and inconvenience myself for me doing my part as an individual. For example I'm not gonna go bankrupt buying an electric car that right now is not within my financial reach

But if I can avoid idling my car that's still gasoline, making less garbage, not needlessly wasting energy etc why not? These aren't things that take much effort so

I literally do more than 90% of ppl tbh even tho ppl on this site love to bash on me as some conservative lunatic because occasionally I have a less left wing perspective on certain things than the average GGD user... A Conservative lunatic doesn't usually give much dams about the environment

Anyway I'm starting to go totally off topic now :selena:

My point was just... Demand change yes but it really doesn't hurt to put some efforts on our part too :)
