Back to my original point, of course I want governments to do more but how hypocritical would I be if I did nothing?

Not at all hypocritical, if you acknowledge, to yourself, that the core of the problem is outside of your "power" or "capabilities" to solve. Instead, you'd just be part of the 90% that isn't all holy about it, but might want change.

Thing is that green parties are always also extremely left when it comes to immigration, welfare, and taxes, which is why those 90% won't vote for it. They would increase your taxes, make you pay for every mile you drive, tax your meat heavily.. it's just not an attractive political stance..

We had a good little exchange here. Thx!

Yeah... Which is why a party like the Green party would never get my vote... Too extreme on the left for my taste

In my opinion... I wanna put the environment first but not to the point where nothing else matters at all

The economy I think matters too. It is ppls lives after all and I think warrants at least some consideration

Yes he did. And he did it again, and again, and again. Strange to be asking if Trump was ever lying. :vegas:

And I was also talking about those every decisions: they are not the core of the problem.

For example, taking an electrical uber driving around on green energy, what's the point of walking if you don't want to? Same for leaving an electrical car idle. Plastic bags? Plastic sortering and filtering techniques used at garbage dumps are getting better and better... recycling is effective because others do it for people, not because people consciously recycle. I don't know how many people around you consciously separate everything, but I know few. Showering? It's only a problem if there is some sort of water shortage.

I have a problem with this "every bit matters" theory you put forward.. if the severity of the problem is so high.. wouldn't it especially be the things that make considerable impact to tackle first? Instead of the little luxury things we do on a daily basis that have neglectable impact? That is punishing those who are not responsible and beating around the bush. It's also very common for people nowadays to judge you if you eat meat, for example, and this is not the way to go about this, I find. Which is why I said it leans towards communism, where people decide what is the norm or expected normal behavior, and if you don't comply, you will be socially isolated and stuff.

If you want to talk about personal impact, why should normal folks be punished for flying to a country for a holiday once a year while Gaga, every other celeb or CEO, is flying around the world all the time?

It's not the commoners that need to sacrifice something. We should definitely shift responsibility to those who are responsible. It's McDonald's and their chicken nuggets meat suppliers, for example, but not those eating it.

This is the tea sis

Individuals are NOT the people responsible for the bulk of the problem, it is large corporations. You becoming a vegan, reducing your carbon footprint... those are nice things, and we should encourage more people to do them, but the message that we can fix this problem with that alone is a lie. If every single person lived like that, it still would not match the contribution that major corporations do to create the problem. It is entirely the M.O. of fossil fuel and energy corporations to spend money to influence public discussion to create this idea that we are the problem so that we don't focus on them. We have to attack them, aggressively, because they will never willingly choose to make less money.

We should guarantee a certain quality of life to people, but at the end of the day they have to have lives guaranteed in the first place.

@Economy I should change my name to Environment :green:

Yeah, like always. The audacity of his to point out her "issues" while he's one massive issue. I can't... This man really needs a therapist.

I wanna explain my opinion on her

i think that what she is doing is good and for a good cause but it’s OBVIOUS that she’s a puppet and what she says is just a script she’s reading.

That’s what I don’t like about her, it’s not that she’s a teen that stands up for what she believes in, it’s that there’s nothing behind the words she speaks

"Please do not act like you know just the slightest thing about me or the things I do, it’s not the truth and makes you look super dumb xx"

Reread it and apply it to Greta.

She’s a person in the public eye so it’s kinda easy to have an opinion on her

not saying that it’s true, but it’s what I think though
