I would also add people's personal choices in there too

As much as government policy might affect emissions from certain industries or stuff like the power grid...

A lot of emissions come directly from the types of decisions we as ppl make including what products we buy

Ppl want the government and rich and powerful to do their part... That's fine and reasonable

But for truly maximal results we need EVERYONE to do their part without trying to shift responsibility to someone else

The ellites in power (businessman and policiticians) may have more power in terms of policy but the bottom 99% of people still makeup the majority of target consumer's

The world can't change if we don't practice what we preach and I think far too many ppl are vocal about what governments need to do without doing much themselves

I don't want to get too much into this, but I believe this is communism. You can't tell people what they can and can't eat, you can't tell people that work hard every day and travel by car or fly that they can't anymore. This type of policy will never be voted into any government.

Seeing as 60% (back of my head) of all CO2 comes from meat, the only thing you can do is replace the industry with a meat production type that is not actual cows and chickens, but in a lab. They are doing this already, cloning and creating meats.

You driving an electrical car does not make much impact, as the electricity in most countries still isn't green.

It's also not a matter of how long we shower and leave the lights on and stuff.. it's really about changing the energy foundations.. and you need a progressive government on education and innovation and a government willing to consider nuclear as well. Windmills and solar power, hydro, are quite expensive and not as efficient. Hydro is, but not a lot of countries can actually use hydro power. Netherlands for example, has way too much water, but we can't use it because we don't have difference in height...

It's easy; you implement policies that force car manufacturers, meat suppliers, that they can't emit CO2 anymore. You force airlines to only purchase very efficient planes or innovate flying solutions where emissions are minimal.

Problem: lobbies. These companies are really really powerful.

Which is why only a Bernie could get the US on board.

She's literally a 16 year old girl with Aspergers. She's fighting harder than 95% of the politicians in power when it comes to trying to combat climate change.

This is downright pathetic. Anyone who tries to downplay what she's doing and what she's trying to accomplish needs to get their priorities straight. She is fighting for the safety of our planet. People like Trump and people who try and look down upon her for trying to help save the ****ing planet have a few screws loose, if you ask me.

I didn’t ask you

Don't get me wrong. I'm on board with 100% of what u said just now.

But I'm talking about personal every day decisions that make a difference...

Leaving ur car idling, how devoted are u to recycling, walking when it's short distances and you have the time... For example when I go to a fast food restaurant I always ask for them not to give me the bags or straws cuz it's literally not needed and is just garbage... Leaving lights on or showers may not be the biggest impact but it doesn't mean there isn't some degree of impact

I'm not talking about controlling what ppl can and can't do. Communism is a very extreme interpretation of what I just said

I'm talking about people being more mindful in their everyday decisions... When it's billions of people collectively, it makes a difference... I'm not saying to put the work on the people INSTEAD of the government and the big companies... I'm saying to do it IN ADDITION to. People have a less major impact than people with more power shouldn't get u off the hook to do nothing

Even if it's a smaller impact than policies... If we truly are that close to the breaking point then every bit matters and ppl shouldn't shift responsibility to someone else because it's inconvenient

In fact that's a big issue I see with society. Everyone wants change as long as they aren't the ones that have to make any sacrafices for it

Because it's already a low blow to lash out at a young girl, but it's even lower when she has a developmental disorder.

I don't know how to take that... Im literally in the process of being checked for Asperger's/high functioning autism... I've had 2 appointments already and today I have my 3rd (what are the odds this would come up today :laughga:)

But anyway I'm not disabled because of it (if I do indeed have it). It's not something that really affects ur intelligence and I wouldn't want ppl to feel more sorry for me than someone else because of it if I was being bullied

I think putting her lower like she should be felt MORE sorry for than another person to have Asperger's is actually more like putting her down. I think it's completely unrelated

Regardless of who it is no one should be targeted like that

I certainly didn't mean for it to sound like I'm being condescending in anyway. I apologize if I gave that impression off. I guess it just upsets me more than anything because I've seen people online specifically  make fun of the fact that she has Asperger's.
