In Norway, as a young person, i could not imagine buying a house or apartment. Nah Nah Nah. In about 50 years? Maybe.

I live in the suburbs and in my city houses are still like $750,000 to $800,000 while in Toronto over $1,000,000

 

My anual salary, 50,000 (like $40,000 after taxes)

 

Only 20 years to pay off a mortgage if every dime of my income went to a mortgage and if there was no interest

 

With interest plus other living expenses were looking at 40 years mortgage but the laws in Canada only allow 25 year mortgages

 

In other words... Not happening

I feel bad for moaning about house prices in England now  I live in a nice city in the south and a decent house is just under ten times my salary but we have help to buy ISAs and access to 40 year mortgages so generally it’s not too much of a far off dream if you have a partner or a friend to buy with.

Here in Canada there's cheaper cities too. I happen to live in one of the more expensive regions
