When The Joanne Era Derailed

I’m not complaining. Taking a look back at it though, it’s like- Gaga legit stopped the Joanne era aesthetic after the Super Bowl and it never really came back except for when the Piano Version was released. It makes me wonder- and I know, I guess I’ll be that guy, if Gaga really was ready to ditch the main Joanne album cycle and put out the “B-Sides” aka the “Original LG5” (The fans who heard Frankensteined said Gaga was thinking about putting it out). I know it’s all just speculation but it’s not like we have any new music-related stuff to discuss.

The Venn diagram between the fans who heard Frankensteined and the people who have seen the Bigfoot is a basically a circle so I would take their words with an entire tonne of salt :huntyga:

But ngl if she hasn't burned the original LG5 masters yet I would really like to hear them. Maybe they'll leak in 2055 when the LG6 single is announced.

RedOne confirmed Frankensteined was real and he said it was supposed to be the lead. I find it hard to believe a group of fans who all went to the same meet and great came up with a random song title and it turned out to be real ksksk

Oh I didn't know, I thought it was the product of mass hysteria or something. With Little Monsters you never know. That's inch resting :gum:

Yeah sis Frankensteined is real. He talked about it last year too. There’s a few threads on it but here’s one.

The era derailed into a canyon full of flesh eating alligators the minute she put on her cowboy hat and short shorts.

Isn't it crazy how Bowie died, and then immediately her entire career and philosophy on life took a sharp 90 degree turn?  You just never know what is going to happen in life!

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

It’s so drastic that you can really see how Bowie shaped her as an artist you can literally laugh off the Madonna comparisons

What do you mean, if you don't mind elaborating? Genuinely asking because I wasn't in the fanbase during that time and haven't looked up a bunch about that specific period in her life.

I think that the Joanne era was intentionally anticlimactic. I don't think she stopped it to release new music, I think that it was always meant to be a more authentic and low-key album/experience. So they released a few singles, and when it was clear that it wasn't catching on like wildfire, they stopped pushing new singles. It's not like she needed to push herself to the public anyway (Superbowl, wildly successful Joanne tour, number one album).

I think in the wake of ARTPOP, anything to be as low-key as possible and avoiding to seem desperate was probably the goal. Otherwise, you'd look like Katy Perry in the Witness era (aka, Lady Gaga during the ARTPOP era).

Honestly I was living in 2016 when she stripped it back and went all minimal. It was truly a reinvention that we hadn’t seen yet as all her previous eras had elements from the last. The Dive Bar Tour was amazing and I still remember that DIC and Hey Gurl were the only songs she didn’t perform on that mini tour.

Then the Super Bowl & John Wayne came and that was the turning point.

I think she saw the fans and the general public weren’t responding to that aesthetic so she got self-conscious about it for a while. Especially after people were praising her extravagant side at the super bowl.

I doubt all the B-Sides aka the original LG5 informantion is even a half-truth. She was working a lot in studio in 2016-2017, but it was for ASIB.

It was supposed to happen before the Joanne release, not later.
