That's not racist. Sorry.

What about a person literally not making a public comment regarding something they have no involvement in being white has any relevance to the topic? Come on lol

So silly. Shawn Mendes, a person that has zero relevance to what is going on with Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun, being WHITE, has absolutely no relevance to the situation.

Bitching about race when race has zero relevance to the situation :wtfga:

Oh please. What makes you think you get to assume my race? I'm white, for your information, and for chriss sake even I can acknowledge the privilege I have as a white person and that people of color live a  different experience and life from my own.

Do you fear for your life when in interaction with the police, or have to take pause with such interactions? No. I know not what this is like, whereas that is simply not the case for people of color in the US, and Black men in particular. They are constantly beaten, overreacted to and even murdered by the police in the US when they posed no threat and did absolutely nothing wrong. Many were in their own homes, and minding their own business.

And the fact that you disregarded the reality of the US criminal justice system and examples that I demonstrated for how this is the case really shows all we need to know about your misguided and inaccurate opinion of the reality of life in the US.

Thank you NEXT.

I never assumed your race in my post, that's why I kept it general. I also never said that POC have the same experiences as me or claim I know what that's like.

Part of the reason I don't fear for my life around the police is because I live in a country where the general police force don't carry guns. I'd feel very differently in America, although I know, as a woman, the chances of an officer shooting me would be quite low. White Americans are shot at a higher frequency, actually, but because of their bigger population, the figures look disproportionately smaller. I won't deny that there's big problems regarding racism in the police force but it doesn't mean that that whites are safe, not at all. There have been many stories of whites being shot for the exact same reasons as blacks. The most common reason is walking/running away when the police tell you to freeze and put your hands up. I've noticed that even the innocent ones do this which I can't fathom as running away when the police tell you to stop is their biggest incentive to shoot you. I think guns are so imbued within American culture that the sight of a cop pointing a gun at them doesn't scare them as much as it would someone who comes from a country where guns are illegal. I think there needs to be a widespread change of culture for unnecessary deaths like this to stop occurring.

I studied US culture for years, I live it more frequently than my own culture sometimes. I may never have lived it but I've seen it through the accounts of those who have. Your account may be valid but it doesn't invalidate others.

Why does everything on this site have to somewhat be turned into a race war?

This isn’t relevant to the story. Am I missing something here?

In my messy era.

“I studied US culture for years” and then you post this :lmao:

Obviously since whites are the majority their figures will look smaller but considering other groups are minorities and are disproportionately shot and incarcerated... your take on this is misguided.

Big yikes. This entire thread is an embarrassing mess.

And? Did anyone state that they thought their "oppression" which no one said they felt, was worse than others?

I at no point sit there and say that me being a white person have faced worse racial oppression than another. Obviously I haven't. I stated that racism is racism, regardless of the race.

Stop trying to make someone's statement seem any more topical than it was. :saladga:

You're telling me this after derailing a whole thread because OP said "typical straight white boy"??? :laughga:

I'll lift you 3 inches off the ground and drag you to a meter and a half

I’m not denying that violent, racist attacks take place toward minorities and other non-whites. It’s happened throughout history and it continues to happen to this very day. It’s an injustice that cannot and will not be tolerated, and I believe the majority of people, of all races, around the world agree. However,  any race, including whites, can be subjected to racism and racial stereotypes.

I myself am a straight white middle class male. I know many don’t believe I have a right to speak about this subject. That my opinions, thoughts, and feelings are not welcomed nor deserved because of who I am and how I identify. Personally, I have experienced racism directed toward me, in an encounter in the form of a demeaning slur regarding my pale skin tone and being described as white scum.

But please hear me out when I say that because I am a straight, white, middle class male, I acknowledge I have been privileged to have only experienced one account of racism in all my 28 years of life. What happened to me should not be tolerated, but when I put the situation into perspective, it’s because of how I identify that I get to go home on a normal basis without the fear of something or someone putting my life at risk, whereas countless minorities have been victims of senseless and brutal racist encounters and attacks for far too long. I put into perspective, that because of how I identify, I do not have fear when a cop pulls me over. I am not considered suspect when walking into a convenience store. I do not make others clutch their purses when I pass them by. I do not live life knowing that not even 60 years ago, my grandparents were hosed down, spit on, screamed at, and murdered in the streets for all to see.

Although I disagree with others views and opinions regarding racism against whites, I don’t want to be seen as an enemy. I am not trying to portray myself as a victim of racially motivated attacks. And I am not saying my opinion matters more. I understand the opportunities I’ve been given, while others who deserve those same chances, are simply looked down upon and turned away. I don’t stand for it. I don’t condone it. And I realize that it exists.  Please come to understand that we can have different opinions and feelings and beliefs on various subject matter without feeling the need to tear each other down, diminishing our support and respect for one another in the process.

The truth is, for me, a straight white middle class male, I will always stand in support for any person (regardless of their sexual preferences, race, sex/gender, income class, religion, or political views) who deserves and demands equal rights, compassion, awareness, and acceptance. And please trust in me when I say there are many more of us out there who want to spread compassion for one another, not hate.

Sorry for the lengthy post.  Just saw some comments that seemed very divisive rather than constructive. I believe it’s ok to disagree with others opinions and feelings, as long as we strive to present our objections in a civilized and professional manner.

As he should be, she has given Shawn so much, he always mentions her, he just featured on the Lover remix and ALWAYS uses her for clout and name drops yet when she specifically asks for help, he stays silent.

And it's not just him, Ed Sheehan is also a coward. He has been Taylor's 'friend' for ages, he featured on RED and reputation, he opened for her on the RED tour when he was only in the UK DESPITE her label and everyone saying she should go with someone else, brought him along and now he's huge.

And I don't care if they are 'supporting her privately', she wants it to be public. And its not like they haven't defended people before, both of them have backed and defended other male artists for terrible things yet when Taylor is right and asking for help they are useless, some friends they are. So yeah, they are cowards and fake friends.
