And things will get worse if we don't act on climate change.

It'd be a shame to lose a city like Venice.

Not to mention the countless island nations around the world (especially Pacific) where entire cultures can be wiped out.

It would be a blessing if we started to act now, but if we're already seeing the effects it means its too late to act and get it better.

Things, sadly, will only get worse and worse with time. We're literraly doomed. I can only guess with the next few years we'll start to see worst and worst climate scenarios. I wishe nothing to severe, but oh well...

On the other hand some people say we're actually not in a climate change scenario per se, but the normal cycle of the world. So who knows, maybe we'll die soon maybe not.

Ok not to deny anything, i 100% think a lot has to change NOW,

but, keep in mind that if it hasn’t been this bad in 50 years, that means that it WAS as bad 50 years ago. Flooding is ofc a common thing in Venice as well.

so let’s not start losing it as soon as we see ‘worst in 50 years’ stuff..

but yes the planet is being screwed by us

Flooding of this magnitude will become the norm with rising sea levels.

As someone who lives in a city who has received “500 year floods” 3 times in the last 5 years... I can tell you that what used to be a historic event is becoming the norm in many parts of the world.

It is not related to Global warming. It's however related with bad politics. First and foremost, as it's something that was foreseen

The lagoon of Venice is connected to the Adriatic, if the water doesnt evacuate through the sea, it gets "imprisoned" in the lagoon…

There was a big storm Yesterday and so the flood happens. It happens every year, the one last year was huge but this one is only second to the flood in 1963.

Though some studies indicate Venice is sinking each year, it's due to over building, and overpopulation.

This event though could have been anticipated. Yes we expected 1.50 and not almost 2m of water but still.. There are many people that are suffering from this. Lots of money lost, two people died. The water reached our Archives in the conservatory, i dont know about the main bibliotec, which has enormous resources. All venice is a precious testimony of the past, it doesnt deserve to be treated like this.
