Fire chiefs in Australia have warned of “the most dangerous bushfire week this nation has ever seen”, saying New South Wales – the country’s most populous state – faces an unprecedented “catastrophic” fire day on Tuesday

Sixty fires are currently burning in across the state, 40 of which are running out of control. There are also nearly 50 fires burning in Queensland, and fires in Western Australia and South Australia.

Across NSW, three people have already died, and more than 150 homes have been razed. An extreme and persistent drought has left much of the region tinder-dry. The conditions, combined with temperatures in the high 30s and strong winds, are expected to present about 1,300 volunteer firefighters from across the country with life-threatening fires on Tuesday that will be impossible to stop.

Thought I'd shed a little light what is going on in my country at the moment. To put it in perspective when everyone was talking about the amazon it was 125,000 hectares of fire and in New South Wales bushfires have burnt more than 850,000 hectares across the state. Our country still doesn't want to talk about climate change and our president doesn't even care. Praying for us :ohno:

I hope all my Aussie monsters (and non-monster Aussies) are alright. Im from the suburbs so the fire won't get to me, but this needs to be a massive wake-up call for those living in farmland/forest. Have a plan, use it when the time comes. Most importantly, stay safe. a house is not a home and your life is more valuable than any valuables:heart:

Honestly the comments made by politicians like Barnaby Joyce and co. just prove that Australia has a long way to go on climate change. We should all be coming together, but instead it’s just caused a debate between left v right, humans are a joke.

Australian monster here..

These catastrophic fires / weather conditions here are only going to get worse in the coming years and i'm terrified. Terrified for the safety of my fellow Aussies and terrified by the disgusting inaction and backwards attitudes of the men running this country (into Hell).

Our Prime Minister, the leader of this country, is a fraudster and proud follower of Hillsong. He brought a lump of coal into parliament a couple of years ago (similar to American congress) to make a disgusting display of his support for the fossil fuel industry that is destroying this planet. All he has are his meaningless "thoughts and prayers" - i'm very much reminded of the gun control issue in the US.

Meanwhile our deputy Prime Minister (the equivalent of the US Vice President) is a complete climate-change denier, along with many people in our government. It's really horrifying and infuriating.

Scientists have been warning the Australian people and the government FOR DECADES - telling us that these exact horrific weather events were coming, due to drought and man-made climate change, and NOTHING was done. Nothing is being done.

I'm hoping (but still feeling very hopeless) that these fires will spark a change in our government and that climate change will treated as a real issue. Treated as the emergency it is.
