gagaxsebert 5,804 Posted November 7, 2019 Share Posted November 7, 2019 So.. as the title said, It was LGBTI Inclusion week in our school. This was the first time this was ever done. I really thought the idea was good on the staffs end. I’m still closeted btw so I didn’t have to put up with what I’m about to speak about. The Good; - each year group got to have a guest speaker to educate people on the topic. (My speaker’s mother got sick so he couldn’t make it so we watched an LGBT movie, Handsome Devil if you’s are wondering) - most of the teachers spoke out for the inclusion week, our double religion class was dedicated by a teacher to showing students how being LGBTI isn’t a choice and how it’s normal (more on that in the cons) - and we’re having a civis day tomorrow to wear colours of the lgbt flag to show our support. The Bad; - I’m in an all boys school, so the ignorance was through the roof. It’s normally bad but it was so much worse this week. Just talking bad about students who are gay and who are “probably” gay - the movie our year group got to watch was the biggest way to make being lgbt a public spectacle. One of the teachers turned out to be gay in the movie and all you could hear was pedo or he’s gonna rape the students amongst a lot more. I was sick. - the civis day is going to be a disaster tomorrow as most students have planned to wear black to not show their support. - Why isn’t there a straight inclusion week was the most common question asked. Overall I felt this week did more harm than good for the LGBT community as it was a way that students could make a public spectacle of the community. And it was truly sick to listen to. sorry for the rant just need to get this off my chest. Has your school done anything like this and how was it? And then started asking someone did they choose to write with that hand (referencing sexuality is not a choice). The lady from HR that came, I was sure she was gay cause she had rainbow stickers and flags all over her computer and clothing. She first started talking about what the acronym LGBTQ+ stands for. She said the following: "It stands for lesbian, gay, bi, trans and questioning althought I don't know what those are so just dismiss them I know I do" and then she proceeded to tlak about how we need to educate ourselves on the topic and to know what's derogatory and while she was telling us about this she highlighted at least 6 to 7 times that she isn't gay even though her haircut is and that she's an ally, but to not confuse her with being a gay and it clearly bothered her that someone would think she's gay yet she has the nerve to call herslef an ally I'm the bitch that's fragile Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
