It still blows me away. I knew she could sing but never expected her to do that!

That year is one of the best of her career.

It isn't her vocal peak (her current peak happened in 2017 I believe) but it's an incredible performance that totally changed how people saw her.

She used such great technique, extensively used her head voice for the first time, no frills. Just letting her voice shine. It was marvelous.

It was a musical theater mixed with classical operatic style performance. Basically musical theater without obnoxious belting.

She was so prepared, rehearsed for months, took care of her voice, was genuinely excited for it, looked happy and her face wasn't scrunching up for any notes. She wasn't reaching. She wasn't hitting. She was singing.

Oh... Still remember staying up late to watch this performance. I knew she could sing, that she have a great voice, but damn, it blew me away... I remember i didn't said a  word, my hand close to my mouth... Chills all over...  When it ended i couldn't stop smiling all i wanted was to see it again. I didn't sleep  the few hours  left that night, i couldn't, went to work  that morning and spended the time looking up the news and reactions about it. She nail it... Change people's minds, and gain a new level of respect. Anyways, i don't know how many times i go and watch this performance, sometimes i just have a need to go and see it.

The stage, her dress, hair & makeup, literally everything was sooooo perfect and well put together. Then add in her voice and it was the closest thing to looking at an absolute angel in real life. She slayyyeeedd that performance.

Oddly enough I remember watching that performance live and tearing up soo much and then noticing they showed Bradley Cooper standing in the audience and I thought they would look so hot together! Then Julie Andrews came out and I lost it!

I think you're right and it was announced on the day, like when she was on the red carpet that she would be doing a sound of music tribute.
