They played dirty. Clinton's camp literally spread a photo of Obama in "traditional muslim garb" to try to scare voters away from him. Obama went on to win the general election in a landslide. If the Democratic candidate can't win in a general election after being vetted in a primary, they should never have been the candidate in the first place.
