Today is October 5 2019, which means it's the first anniversary of the release of both the soundtrack and the movie. Maybe we could use this thread to share all the good memories we have about the release of A Star is Born.

The album was a huge commercial success, selling more than 5 Million copies Worldwide and with Shallow already being one of the biggest selling songs of all time (according to Mediatraffic.de, it has sold 8,7M, making it the 125th biggest song of all time).

OK so I will start: I am currently very nostalgic (it's Insta's one year ago today fault mainly) of how excited was I for the launch of the movie and the soundtrack. I rarely am excited for movies, but this one was very attractive for me, not only for the fact that Gaga was on it, but because music had a huge role on it, and because of the topic it deals with.

I remember totally the thursday in which Shallow was released in the afternoon (for me), and how I thought that song was awesome from the first listen. I did not think it would be a hit back in the day. I remember that I had to leave the house and I barely had time to listen to it a couple times.

I remember the day I came back home from university and saw two promo posters for the movie, one with Gaga and one for Bradley, and how happy and excited I was to see Gaga "on the street". I remember being out with my friends thursday night and getting the spotify notification that the album was out now but I wanted to wait. The next day I went to buy the vinyl and then I heard it back home for the first time on the vinyl. I remember that I liked the album but seeing the movie made me enjoy it a lot more.

I remember obviously the day I went to the cinema to see the movie, and how much I enjoyed everything. I remember listening to INLA in repeat the next couple days and how it was addicting for me to listen to it but it was like receiving a stab in my heart because I was reminded of the ending of the movie.

And  last but not least, I remember following the awards season that got our girl not one but three grammy awards and an oscar, not to mention she became the first woman to win a BAFTA as a musician. And then it went #1 on the Hot 100 :legend:

It had been a long time since I had been hearing Gaga on the radio and people in my environment who are not fans talking about her and being excited. And this felt so good.

lmao it’s been literally 1 year

as for ASIB... ugh so damn good. i saw it October 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 9th that first week (and saw it 4 more times before it left theaters, including IMAX and Encore). i doubt i’ll ever see a movie even half that many times again in my life. life changing, i was obsessed for a solid 6 months or so. i love both the film and soundtrack and will cherish them forever.
