Trademarking someone's name is ludicrous. I know it's all veiled under "we don't want anyone making a product called Blue Ivy to profit off our daughter's name" but what it's really about is that they probably want to start pushing Blue into putting her name on products one day and branding it and don't want any overlap. That child's future seems to be all planned out which is pretty sad. Maybe Beyonce and her ilk wouldn't have egos like this if they weren't treated like gods by their fans. A child who's not put out anything into the world is a cultural icon? Give it a rest.

It's not ludicrous when there are millions (or billions) of dollars at play, it's smart business.

But what if Blue doesn't even want her name on products? What if she doesn't even want to be famous? Her parents are plotting out her future career even though she's not long started school. They're planning on using her to make money and that's not cool. They won't need these trademarks if she doesn't want to put her name to things. And seeing as the name Blue Ivy Carter is going to be trademarked, what's going to happen if Blue ever marries in future and changes her surname? Or for that matter, changes her first name? And as if anyone's going to try to name their product Blue Ivy Carter or say it's endorsed by her and have people believe it. This is all veiled reasoning for nothing more than ego and the feeling of ownership over everything.

Blue Ivy already is famous tho, and was always going to be....no matter what. Doing this doesn't make her any more well-known or famous. By trademarking her name, they're actually protecting her from someone else outside of the family profiting off her. And if she changes her name....I mean then she'll have to file on her own I guess. That's kind of a moot point.

Plus, she's 7. She has a voice, interests, etc. and I'm sure she has talked about what she wants to do when she grows up. So what I'm saying is, iIf she's interested in the industry, this is actually smarter and safer for her down the road. I don't think it's about "using her to make money" (they have enough lol), it's about protecting her if she chooses to have a career in media, and allowing her to be successful without having to trademark on her own down the road.
