I agree that Kylie made it trendy and a big deal for teenagers, but the question was about who started it, not who marketed it to the youth and social media market.

I love everything about Rihanna’s approach and design, even if I don’t care much for her the visuals and overall appeal for her line are outstanding.

I really like the products from House Labs as well, especially the eye makeup, but I can’t wait for Gaga to dispose of the tacky shoot and give us the good stuff. It’s still in the start up stage so I’ll give her time, I applaud her doing everything on her own...kinda lol.

Also on topic, I think even though Kylie isn’t the first to succeed she made a ton of money from her makeup line and that’s what is making all these artists want to secure their spot in the beauty the industry. It’s a cash cow, for everybody involved.

Celebrity makeup lines have existed for decades. But there’s obviously a difference between then and the last few years, especially just this last year, when there’s a new brand being released literally every week.
