StrawberryBlond 14,573
I honestly think this documentary should be shown in schools. Young people need to be aware how wrong this is so they don't feel tempted to jump on the hate bandwagon and so any of them going through this can realise that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It's so powerful that it doesn't matter if you aren't a LM fan or don't even know who Jesy is. If you have an ounce of empathy, you will watch this documentary and be moved to tears. It's crazy to think how much social media has ruined so many people's lives. So much of this reminds me of back in the days of Girls Aloud, Nicola Roberts was badly bullied but it was mostly by the press because there was no social media in those days. In fact, social media had just started taking off when they'd put out their final album, so she never got the barrage of hate that she could've had. But Jesy became famous like her in the age of social media, where anyone can put an opinion of someone out into the world and they can hear it, so she was dealing with a very different animal. If someone disliked you back in the day, they'd have to say it to your face for you to find out and if you were a celebrity, you were shielded from a lot of it but now social media hate being readily available makes people despise themselves, self harm, starve themselves, commit suicide. And celebrities are contractually obligated to have it, like Jesy did. So it's not like they can even close their account to escape. The bit about Katie Hopkins saying she was fat even though she looked perfectly slim and had starved herself for a week has to be the worst comment she has ever said in the public eye. I knew nothing about that at the time nor did I know that it was this moment that caused Jesy to spiral downwards. It's true that no matter how much you change yourself, poisonous people will still find a way to bring you down, you can't entertain them. I'd totally forgotten about their Good Enough song, it's a stunner. It has a whole new meaning now. In light of it all, they should re-release it. I looked up a live video of it and they were all crying somewhat and it may have partly been because the lyrics were ringing true with all of them because of what Jesy was going through and how she'd almost killed herself recently. Fame is a scary place and you never truly know what's happening behind closed doors.
Gimme More 35,115
@StrawberryBlond i can't 'love' your post enough! i agree everyone should be made to watch it whether you know who she is or not! i genuinely believe it has already raised a lot of awareness which is amazing! Good Enough is an amazing song! it was so nice/sad seeing Jesy cry on the LM5 tour a few days ago because of the support she had and because of the lyrics to 'The Cure' that they were singing the girls crying too and trying to make funny faces! I was a little bit lost, but I'm not anymore I was a little bit hurt, but I'm not anymore I was a little left out, but I'm not anymore 'Cause the tears fell down, but they don't anymore I was a little messed up, but I'm not anymore I was a little left out, but I'm not anymore I was a little far gone, but I'm not anymore It's alright now, baby I've got the cure Now it's me and myself, don't need no one else This happiness was always inside me But Lord, it took a minute to find me And this freedom I found is with the million you now And I'm puttin' all my troubles behind me I only need my heart to guide me I'm a girl with a new face, and a life that's been changed

JoeMo 3,837
I look at her and think how could such a pretty girl feel so low about herself. Guess it just goes to show no matter what you look like, everyone is vulnerable to online bullying. So sad www.youtube.com/jmremixes
