The amount of willful ignorance in this thread is astounding.  Love her or hate her, her message is one that needs to be heard, and no, she is not in any way exaggerating the effects and the fact that a 16 year old is sacrificing her childhood to lead a global fight against climate change speaks volumes to the inaction of our current world leadership. Man-made climate change poses a significant threat our way of life and the future of humanity, this includes more intense seasons and weather that can lead to massive natural disasters, cripple agricultural industries, contribute to deforestation through the migration of invasive animal and plant species, forest fires, etc,  and even IF climate change did not exist and magically vanished, we are still on a path to destruction. Pollution is becoming a major problem, especially in our inner cities where in many you can't walk the street without a face mask and the sunlight is scattered by smog, leading to significant human health concerns. It wipes out agriculture and kills off animal and plant life species that our vital to our planet while contributing to deforestation, which only contributes to climate change. We are destroying our oceans with pollution and wiping out our major sources of oxygen.

Greta is just one teenager trying to make a difference, and she is making a plea to us to help because she can't do it alone because it's better to try than to not try at all and I'm sorry that you can't see through your rose-colored glasses for just a minute to realize the consequences our actions are causing. People here are just proving her point, that we'd rather sit here and deny there is a problem than to try to solve it. 

It doesn't matter if you want to believe that climate change is real or not, or that it's nothing to be concerned about, because either way we're going to pay. (Taking a statement from AOC's book here) So we can pay much more to react, or we can pay less to be pro active, it's up to you to choose.

I’m living for those two idiots in here trying to dismiss her. It’s always the same Trump supporting lunatics who have to always go against the grain and blatantly ignore facts and science. I mean, could you imagine not believing in facts and science because it doesn’t suit your opinions? Like wow, the egos jumped out! The real clowns of GGD

This was incredible. What a moment. Her speeches always astound me, but wow this really exceeded her prior speeches. 

My jaw literally dropped and tears came to my eyes. So much emotion and so real. 

What a LEADER. 

Keep up all that you do Greta. Thank you for leading the fight on this.
