nodandsmile 10,605
Which contemporary artist(s) do you think will eventually be considered a legend in the future, the way Prince, Madonna etc. are celebrated to this day ... and which ones you think will not? Who do you think their work and art will stand the test of time and who will be forgotten (we can still be civil if your fave is mentioned, we are grown!)? I can only think of two ... 1. Beyoncé You can call her overrated all you want but you cannot deny her power. Her longevity is quite incredible. The woman's been around for two decades, a lot artists came and went (whom at some point were bigger than her), and she's still standing and being compared to artists who came long after her. After the underperformance that was 4 (compared to AISF), her following release literally shooked the world (16 years into her carreer!) and three years later she released her best body of work! She's selling out stadiums and a year ago gave one of the best performances ever (even OBHs can agree on that). She's made a great impact in so many people's lives (especially black women who need it the most since they are disrespected in their own community) and that will last forever. 2. Gaga Anyone less talented or less smart would have disappeared from the face of the earth after the ARTPOP lashings. Not only was it an underperfomance commercially (while her peers were stomping), it was also criticized. The DWYW fiasco (and her biggest mistake), the people who left her while she was at her worse, her own fans coming at her non stop, her meltdowns on social media ... it even got to a point people thought and I even saw celebrities saying she was done! So she worked really hard from "Cheek To Cheek" to "Joanne" and all the covers (that some of you loved to complain about and still do) to show the world how freaking talented she is! Flash-forward to ASIB, she has a critically acclaimed hit movie, a ww hit single (singles in some countries), acting oscar nom (first popgirl to do it since Cher in the 1980s), oscar win and the most awarded song of all time! She slayed in every possible way, please tell me another popstar who did the same? I am waiting ... All this to say no matter what happens, she'll always come back stronger! Who are your pick(s) in both cases?
OMonster 14,675
I think Beyonce and Gaga, too. Britney also for different reasons, as well as Taylor Swift - again, for different reasons. subtext / fantasy

HoneyB 27,926
Beyoncé IS a legend y’all can cry, grovel, and fume all you want she’s still a legend. Point blank PERIOD. The woman has worked her a$& off from age 16 and has continuously stayed relevant throughout the years in some way or another. No other person besides Gaga works as hard as her she’s so meticulous. Her awards and acclaim speak for itself. She has set the standard for most of her contemporaries and when the GP thinks of Beyoncé they think of excellence/goddess(unfortunately). These new artists are just so LAZY, they don’t bother putting effort into their craft. To quote Bey, they’re just trying to sell quick singles they don’t care about music videos or performances the things that made music so interesting! I’m sorry but this woman is a powerhouse! As for Gaga... the Stan in me would say she’s a legend but idk... I feel like the LG6 era will determine her legendary status. Because she’s definitely more greater than a icon but as a legend I feel like she needs more time. The ASIB era helped her a lot the GP love her so we'll have to see how the LG6 era goes. BTW is the closest we’ve got to her magnum opus and she’s had a great career so far. She’s a legend in my eyes! I would also say Rihanna too has potential she is the queen of singles and is adored by the GP. She’s a savvy business woman and Avon lady but I think she needs more time to truly cement herself as a legend. These 3 are the holy trinity of talent and have shook up the game with their entrance! I can’t think of anyone else fit to be legends except these ladies! 💋 𝕊𝕥𝕖𝕡 𝕐𝕒 ℂ𝕠𝕠𝕜𝕚𝕖𝕤 𝕌𝕡💋🍪

GaGaAst 13,023
apart from one you mentioned, 1. Taylor Swift : she is smart and talented. To be a legend, one that helps is body of work that people will look back and say wow that was a masterpiece. Taylor stomps at that..look at her albums.. All are amazing. ALL TOO WELL ALONE MAKES HER A LEGEND. 2. Adele and Bruno Mars: Depending upon how much they utilise their status now and material they release.. I wouldn't say Rihanna because she has always been an single artist until Anti. Let's give few more years..she has most BOPS out of all singers now may be even among all time but nothing else to offer. Look at katy she was a singles artist and how her career ended though I know both are too different.
