Idk man. I want to believe this but as much as I want Bernie and Warren to be the last two standing, I feel Biden is going to stay on top and maybe even take the nom. I’m not saying he won’t be defeated. It just seems like he still not going anywhere.

It’s still early! In terms of the primary, we are now getting to the most important part of the primary. We are approaching deadlines to register and what will be important is the grassroots organizing and getting folks registered to vote. Example: in order to vote in New York which votes in April 2020, you must be registered to vote by October 6, 2019. So if you support a campaign and you miss the deadline you can’t support your candidate. This impacted Bernie in 2016 because he was still unknown in October 2015.

Fun fact: the NY house and senate have both passed a bill to move the registration deadline to 60 days prior to the election back in May. It’s nearly mid-September and governor Cuomo has yet to sign the bill into law. Cuomo has officially endorsed Joe Biden and even gave Joe exclusive use of his donor list of NY. It smells like democracy doesn’t it? I wonder why Cuomo would feel motivated not to sign a bill passed by both state legislatures. Surely, it wouldn’t be to prevent candidates with huge energy with young people from getting votes....

I don't even think Joe will make it to Iowa.

I don't see how people can support Joe. Even if people are centrist.  There are a lot more interesting and younger people in the race right now that are also centrist.

Why Warren over Bernie? I’ll preface this by saying I’m not going to attack you for your answer and I’m definitely going to try and provide a reason to switch (if possible) based on your answer, but I’m also asking because I really cannot fathom a reason to pick her over him based on the facts that I know.

Then I suppose I'll preface this with two things too.

First, I'm still new when it comes to learning about politics. I've never paid attention to politics until after Trump was elected. With that said, I feel like I've learned a lot over the past 2-3 years, but I'm probably nowhere near as politically-savvy as other people (probably in this thread).

Second, because of that, I have a good understanding of what each candidate is fighting for, but if you're going to try and talk to me/debate with me about specifics here and there with each candidate, then  I'm probably not the right person to have that kind of in-depth conversation with.

But to your question, I just feel like everything she's brought forth has made sense/resonated with me. That isn't to say that Bernie doesn't. Like I've said already 100x in this thread, I am a Bernie supporter. I adore him. That said, I just feel like Warren's plans/ideas get to me more.

Everything from the 2¢-3¢ tax on the wealth; universal child care; and her stance of social issues, to prison reform; wanting clean energy for America;  and her stance on immigration  just all make sense to me.

Thanks for replying. I will refrain somewhat from the policy specifics then. Bernie doesn’t have an active wealth tax (Warren uses her tax to pay for child care and for her student loan program whereas Bernie pays for his student debt cancellation (all debt) through a less than 1% tax on Wall Street transactions)). I can’t say much about “social” issues but I can speak to Bernie’s criminal justice plan and how I love that it addresses the need for trans people who are incarcerated to get specific healthcare needs addressed and other candidates don’t. I would recommend you compare Warrens plan for clean energy and compare to Bernie’s. Warren’s plan is a lot like Jay Inslees who dropped out a month ago & the consensus is that Bernie’s plan is more ambitious than both. Bernie and Warren have similar stances on immigration—Bernie has in particular focused on this a lot especially in terms of the DACA program and extending it to the parents of immigrant children as well as a temporary ban on deportations and a pathway to citizen ship.

There’s still a childcare plan that Bernie is going to release soon so I recommend you looking into that as well. I also strongly suggest you read all the plans for yourself. Don’t just listen to me and take the time to read the plans. One reason why I prefer Bernie over Warren is because of Medicare for All. Warren keeps flip flopping on the topic and doesn’t always give the impression she’s willing to fight for it. It has become my issue because my mother died of colon cancer at the age of 45. The last 2 years of her life was spent worrying about bills and health insurance and treatments all the while enduring enormous pain. It broke my heart and I don’t know that ill ever be the same because of it. And because she worked hard for very little money, she never went to the doctor because while she could afford the insurance, she could t afford medicines or medical bills. If we had a Medicare for All single payer system, there’s the possibility she would have went to the doctor without worrying about money and it could have been caught sooner. And maybe I wouldn’t have to wonder for the rest of my life whether or not it would have made a difference. And the fact that Warren refuses to fully endorse Medicare for All, push for the elimination of the profit motive in healthcare and fight for it to be a basic human right makes it impossible for me to vote for her.

I would argue that Bernie’s policies are that of a social democracy because our current political system demands that. If you look at Bernie’s history, he’s much less “extreme” nowadays than he was in the 70s. The closest thing I’ve seen of Bernie going back to his more socialist tendencies is the public ownership of utilities.

But if you based his political identification and compare to his policies, you are 100% correct that his policies are more of a social democracy with a mostly capitalist system rather than democratic socialism.

Yes. His policies reflect the ideology of a social democrat, but he weirdly identifies as a democratic socialist which I vehemently disagree with. I don't think his policy positions are extreme, especially when compared to the rest of the world, but how he identifies himself (democratic socialist) is certainly extreme.

If Bernie identified as a social democrat from the beginning, I don't think he would see the 'socialist' insults to the degree that he does today. I mean, he would still be called a socialist... But he would have better grounds to defend himself if he were always a social democrat.

This is voter suppression. A shame.

Y’all. I lied! You had to be registered to VOTE by May 31 2019. You have until October 11, 2019 to change your party affiliation.

What’s cute is that whenever a poll gets released that shows someone’s first choice not doing as well as they want, they immediately become a polling expert and will tell you why this is an outlier

Always be skeptical of people trying to tell you the real world actually reflects something closer to their prior bias.

There are two Rhodes Scholars and a Harvard Law Professor in this group of candidates.

What level of education or profession do you hold to call these individuals “not smart”?

And Trump graduated from college, doesn't mean anything

Okay, but this is an outlier though... lol There's a difference in media reception, clearly. A similar poll that had Sanders well ahead of Biden and Warren a few weeks ago was seen as so outrageous because of its sample size that the pollster had to release a statement against their own poll because mainstream media pressured them into it after the backlash, despite being an A list pollster. Just today Nate Silver exposed himself as a joke with his bias against Bernie by saying that Liz being at 17% makes her and Biden strictly the top 2 tier candidates, while Bernie with a 16.8 makes him strongly a tier 2 candidate.... with people polling 5% :rip: The media bias is flagrant really.

Warren is still in a solid 3rd/2nd average based on the polls. We could argue that she's gaining a small amount of minority favor in polling and increasing her centrist support as Kamala Biden and Pete lose favor... But still, she DESEPERATELY needs minority votes at this point; Bernie and Biden have the majority of them, with Biden having Older AA voters and Bernie younger AA voters and a majority of Women of Color, and Latinx people - these are consistent trends across many polls for many weeks, so when polls like this come out, its a bit suspect considering how large those bases are... Some groups likely have been over sampled and others underrepresented. We don't know for sure, but there's lots of factors in polling that don't really add up, and the media picks and chooses which polls to promote regardless of their veracity. Most pollsters have a sort of code of ethics that may or may not preclude posting what they determine (with human analysis) to outliers, bias, misrepresentation, etc. in polls, but others don't.

Not surprising. She is clearly more likable than he is. You can tell with every debate.

Y'all made a huge deal out of Hillary not being likeable.

Progressives now have a choice between a likable candidate and a not so likeable candidate that have progressive values.

A Bernie hater saying that Warren is more ”likeable”, shocking.

Besides this is only one poll. What about the fact that Bernie has more grass roots support, having the most individual donors?  Wouldn’t that make him more “likeable”?
