The issue is people like him want to call themselves progressives while not actually trying to change the status quo. The US will not change until a more leftist president actually DOES something. I’m not saying Biden is a horrible person or anything. He’s just not what, in my view, we need at the moment. People are sick of the regular old politician. Trump won in part because of that. At least on economic matters tbh... i thought the status quo (before trump) was actually ok with maybe a few tweeks like getting rid of some unfair loopholes or raising dividends and investment gains taxes since that makes wealthy pay less than income taxes sometimes but overall i just find Bernie too agressive and i think hed stifle business investment if he had stuff his way thats my opinion. If we are to assume that worst case scenario, you have to compromise on a bill, you’re better to start off with what you want rather than the compromise. Let’s say Medicare for all as an example. If we compromise to a public option, it may pass. Centrists want to push for a public option knowing the Republicans are going to even call a public option evil socialism that needs to be tweaked. In fact, that’s how we got the ACA, which was a Republican designed healthcare program that the Republicans decided not to push for. In other words, the critique is that if we elect a centrist like Biden, any legislative changes are more likely to be noise and lots of in fighting on the corporate media and the lower and working class people will get little to show for it. Bernie). One of them needs to drop and throw their support around the other soon otherwise votes will be split and Biden will win the democratic nomination.
