Or we can change things by you know, getting people to vote for the right politicians? Politicians that have their best interests?

Yes and no. Your odds are better if you don’t have to rely on a public defender.

That’s part of the problem. Poor people are automatically in a disadvantage.

Now we are being asked to just fall in line because you know? The system is forever broken and that’s life. Literal sheep.

So we're just supposed to accept things how they are and not demand better and more fair systems?? Talk about cynical. If this were the case and what people actually accepted gay people never would have fought for and demanded equality since "the systems broken and beyond fixing"

What kind of nonsense, that's ridiculous. It's no excuse to not fight for something better. Your logic is so flawed. Not to mention been proven FALSE based on history. Meaning you're wrong.

Also to Rudz: if you actually took the care to READ that post rather than see the color of the woman's skin in that picture and assume what it was about, you'd know it didn't have anything to do with "playing the race card"

Maybe get your facts straight and know what you're talking about before forming an opinion about something.

Anyway, she deserved to be sentenced. This BS is ridiculous.

Ok. I better stop commenting.

Sorry if I offended anyone with my posts in this thread.

I love her work in Desperate Housewives, and she's one of my favorite celebrities because of that. But she needs to be in prison for longer. People have gone to jail for longer sentences for much less than that, and it's not right. It needs to be equal across the board.

Don't be so damn dramatic. This happens everywhere in the world.

It's not like she kill someone.

OT: I know she didn't kill anyone or commit any kind of violence but 14 days has got to be joke. :toofunny:  2 weeks in prison is such a joke because you know she'll release that book on day 15 and bank that $30,000 before sunset.

I'll lift you 3 inches off the ground and drag you to a meter and a half

Meredith Grey

I don’t think what she did was right by all means but 14 days seems appropriate. She’s just a woman who was trying to do the best for her kids and if you read up on her statements, it seems the public humiliation/her daughter finding out was punishment enough for her. The system is definitely broken and puts harder sentences on other people, but that doesn’t mean she should get a super long sentence for something like this.

VanishIntoMe

She owned up to it, took her responsibility and now her punishment gracefully. Yes, she made a mistake but she's doing the right thing. Look at Lori Loughlin and her husband whom is now facing up to 20 years in prison, and they've not pleaded guilty of anything.

i didn't say, nor imply, any of this. lol, it's just you. projecting. also, you can't base anything on "history," because there is never a history, there are always histories. narratives. plural, that is. anyway, what i meant is that a broken system can only be replaced by another broken system. "fixing" will never mean that equality or whatever is absolutely achieved (and those ideals are forever unattainable, btw). also, i don't know why you think that my statement was cynical. i never said that any attempt to break a broken system just to replace it with another broken one is useless. but, i guess, you can see the irony in that, right? so no cynicism here, just pure irony. lol.
