BUtterfield 8 41,500
The singer-songwriter and longtime LGBTQ ally has reportedly filed an application in court to formally trademark the lyric “100% that bitch,” making her the latest pop queen to stake a claim on a popular catchphrase. (Cardi B’s valiant attempt to trademark “Okurrr,”anyone?) The lyric, which appears in the opening verse of her Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping earworm “Truth Hurts,” has become her unofficial signature of sorts. You could say it’s in her damn genes: Why men great ’til they gotta be great? Woo I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100% that bitch http://www.newnownext.com/lizzo-is-trademarking-iconic-lyric-truth-hurts/09/2019/?xrs=synd_facebook_logo
corvus albus 38,031
This is extremely stupid. Words don't belong to anyone. She may be that bitch but the phrase should not belong to her.
FentyGa 14,340
i mean to be fair it's just for the sake of merchandise and truth hurts has become huge, so the phrase will always be attatched to her. i already see forever 21 (👀) tryna profit off her with it
Illuminati 15,936
Maybe if she trademarked the whole sentence rather than just the bad bitch part it would seem more reasonable

I don't like random people trademarking words. Nobody ever looks good by doing this.

geopang 4,831
Utter stupidity. No one should be allowed to trademark phrases commonly used in society and social media. I’ve been seeing this exact phrase on twitter for a few years.
