The polls do not suggest that Warren’s base would turn their support to Sanders if Warren were to drop out.... Nor do the polls suggest that Sanders’ base would turn their support to Warren if Sanders were to drop out.

The second choice for Warren supporters is Harris, despite Harris being much more moderate. People on this site are forgetting about demographics and identity politics and are just focusing on political ideology.

And more Sanders supporters name Biden as their second choice than Warren.

It's almost like the Bernie Bros won't support a progressive woman. So much so that they will sacrifice their progressive ideology just so they will be able to vote for a man.

Do you think that is going too far?

No, I don’t think your suspicion goes too far.

White men tend to vote for white men. Sexism played a part in the 2016 election and it will impact the 2020 election, as well.

Posts like these paint every Bernie supporter as a Bernie Bro and completely erase people like me who aren’t white who are voting for Bernie and Warren is our second choice.

I'm a white man who's first choice is Bernie Sanders. Were he to drop out, my second choice would be Elizabeth Warren. Joe Biden is literally my last choice out of almost all the people running. Please don't lump all people into one category.

It’s so pathetic how the media is desperate for a Sanders vs. Warren fight.

I highly doubt they’ll go after each other too hard as they know they’re literally the only ones holding up the more progressive votes in the party.

Less that and more that I think they both know that if they start infighting it will be ran with and hurt dems across the board

i think it basically a fact at this point, as an outsider most of the US media on the left that can influence people seem to be too concerned with complaining about Trump and that’s just making his support better and there’s a big focus on extreme leftism with new age terms for gender and sexualities (which I’m all for btw) which is swaying the public. Plus after two terms of a Democrat and a black one at that, I can see the US senate making sure it’s “fair” and keeping trump for another 4 years.

Since most republicans are legit whiny babies and democrats have too much inter-party debacles to succeed.

This is far FAR from fact and reality. You really can't make this kind of call when you're on outsider and don't see how things are on-the-ground here.

Does he have a chance to win? Absolutely. An incumbent will always have a certain advantage. But actually if the voting occured today Trump would be very likely to lose considering he's losing pretty widely to all of the top Democratic candidates in national polls.

By far it depends on who the Democratic candidate is and how the economy and country are doing around the time of the election. Those factors, along with voter turnout on voting day, will be the determining factors for who wins. Depressed voter turnout in 2016 due to 2 historically unpopular candidates is what allowed Trump to win to begin with.

Also, none of this even gets to the fact that Trump is deeply, miserably unpopular. Americans hate him and it is a small minority of people who support him. His only "strength" is with the economy and with that at risk he's hardly guaranteed to win reelection. His base will always support him regardless of what happens, but that's not enough to get him to win. He will need independents and such just like in 2016 and without the economy argument he wont be winning them over again.

Nominate someone like a Joe Biden as the Democratic candidate and you have an Establishment candidate who won't change anything. This would be Hillary 2.0, depressing turnout on the left and its energy, and is a surefire way to lose again.

Nominate a progressive though and all the sudden you have all that energy and excitement to turnout the base and defeat this orange clown.

Btw, to all of you guys fighting about Bernie supporters not turning out for the Democratic candidate if it isn't him:

More people who supported Bernie in the 2016 primary turned out for Hillary in the general election than those who supported Hillary in the 2008 primary turned out for Obama.

Some food for thought. Let's not paint one group in such broad strokes.

They won’t care. Hillary’s loss was everyone’s fault except hers.

Just going by the reports that say the second choice would be Biden.

Also, believing sexism played a part in the general election isn't something that would be blamed on primarily Bernie voters, but they certainly weren’t exempt from being influenced by it.

This is ridiculous. I have not met one Bernie supporter who wants to vote for Biden. A lot of us don’t trust Warren but we know she’s our second best shot. And again, 74% of Bernie supporters voted for Clinton in 2016. Your claim of sexism is false. Also, Sanders base is the most diverse group. Non-white person here.

No one is doing that...but she isn’t their first choice.

The Warren-Bernie love displayed here by a vocal few may not be what is happening out in the world outside of this forum.
