You can’t criticize people that barely can make ends meet for buying the cheap food in plastic packaging, when that’s all they can eat. Many of these things many many people don’t have a choice BUT to buy, BUT to use, the providers of these things have been cutting costs and getting gigantic profit margins from doing so for years, when they had the privilege of not thinking of climate change. It’s so much easier if they changed things than getting millions of people, with different backgrounds and struggles to just take shorter showers and get metal straws

But how do we change consumer behviour then?

 

also its not possible to tax corporations more without also taxing everyone else with it. Everyone is linked to corporations like that

Also people who regularly drive walkable distances seems like a very easy thing to stop too. But as long as I exist and make an impact by eating meat and flying I can't say anything to anyone. I am a hypocrite!

I doubt this is viable but I think it would be great if households were given containers for certain products and they were washed and refilled with soap, shampoo etc instead of buying a new one every time. But thinking about all the different companies who sell thousands of different products... How would that be achieved?!

Edit: OMG just saw electric is bad too! I was thinking about how electric cars may become the norm and that would be better... Lord we can't win I thought it was clean energy lol 

Well it can be cleaner as long as the electricity is produced cleanly

 

it doesnt help to drive electric if most of the electricity where u live comes from coal which is even worse

 

if the electricity can be made green then the only impact is the materials

the worlds richest wealth is largely imaginary so to speak. Most of their wealth is not in cash its in assets that fluctuate in value like stocks

 

the moment the very wealthy started cashing in their assets, theyd drop in value for everyone else who owns them including other rich people

 

The wealth the top 1% have cannot all be turned into cash. Its paper value that wouldnt hold up if all the worlds wealthy tried to cash in at once.

 

The worlds net worth is way higher than its gdp. In other words the money itself that exists is way lower than total valued assets if that makes sense

Its in assets not money tho

 

anyway u have to change behavior to fight climate change not just collect cash

 

taxing the rich can help with certain things but it wont solve others. Theres things that come down to the general population

Comprehensive ideological reform people don't understand the longterm impacts of pollution or climate change! The recent Amazon fires impact will be percolating down to different regions in the upcoming years it's  not instantaneous! 

Greed selfishness etc the behaviour flaws of the human race may as well end us!
