Europe isn't the world red 1989 and Réputation sold extremely well in Asia and Australia.

Taylor has always had a strong presence in Asia and Oceania as most pop girls do, but outside of that internationally, her reach isn’t near as strong as someone like Gaga. There’s a reason why she barely tours outside of the US.

well considering the fact this IS her first top 5 entry there, so basically she's local. at least now, she's not quite anymore. let's celebrate to that. :vegas:

"highest career peaks" a  freaking #5 and y'all wanna clock the ones who call her local?

A MESS LMAO

She is biggest artist in Asia second in North America right now. And top 3 in Oceania. Which continent she is local to? Europe is not world but she is getting number 1 albums there even in her 3. pop era. She was not big in France, top 5 is good for now.

But she is... it’s good that she’s finally pulling in some numbers in EU

Would a local act sold out 2 dates of concert in Tokyo Dome, or stadiums in Australia, UK, and Ireland, each also 2 dates, as well as NZ stadium too? Cos she did THAT :flower:

As is already established, she has a large presence in Asia and Oceania.

As for the UK and Ireland, it makes sense considering how she barely has any dates internationally, increasing her demand.

So if you sell 30 million ww and 20 million come from USA are you local? Just because you are so big there doesn't make you local. Percentage doesn't mean anything. She will sell about half million sales outside of USA without China. It is bigger than total ww sales of %95 of artists.

But she was big at UK and Ireland. 1989 sold 1.2 million there. Not about other countries that much. She is not big in mainland Europe except few markets anyway.

And all that back to the point that she is not a local act like some of you want to believe so bad. A local act would not reach audience more than her home town, or home country, if they are lucky. Let alone having sold out dates abroad, even if one is not visiting often. So honestly, y'all need to stop calling her that. Y'all just embarrassing yourself tbh.

Spock

And if y'all want to talk about local, during Speak Now (her most "local" era ever), she went on her most international tour to date and sold out venues across Europe. So let's not

Arguing with these people it's the same as arguing with the people that will say an 800k first week is a flop when the numbers come in a few hours.

Taylor is winning, yet again, after essays predicting she would flop miserably, yet again. I guess they can't stand the receipts and grasp at straws to throw whatever embarrassing drag they can

Sis, it's all relative. Compared to many artists, you're right she wouldn't be considered local, but when you compare her to other artists on her level (including Gaga), they tend to have a much stronger international reach. Calling her local is a stretch, but it does convey the point she generally doesn't do that well in most international markets.

Widows Kiss

1989 and reputation would have debuted higher across Europe had they been available on streaming services on their respective debut weeks.
