Marill may be based upon a combination of a mouse and a beach ball or possibly a personal flotation device or lifebuoy. Its body and ears also resemble a water molecule.

It may be possibly based on the rakali (Hydromys chrysogaster), who are said to live in burrows on the banks of rivers, lakes and estuaries, and are commonly known as water rats.

Marill's early design had a pink body instead of blue, noticeably smaller ears, and lacked the erratic tail pattern.

For months prior to the release of Pokémon Gold and Silver, Marill was often incorrectly referred to as "Pikablu", likely because of its slight resemblance to Pikachu.

It is even referred to as "Pikablu" on the Topps trading cards for the first movie.

Because Azurill's gender ratio does not match that of its evolved forms and its evolution is not dependent on gender, being female 75% of the time while Marill and Azumarill are female only 50% of the time, female Azurill have a one in three chance of evolving into a male Marill prior to Generation VI. Whether or not this will happen is determined by its personality value. Azurill is the only Pokémon to do this.

Marill's name was originally spelled Marril, as shown in some merchandise for the first movie.

Marill is the only Pokémon that evolves from a Baby Pokémon and has a level requirement for evolving further.

Misdreavus' nocturnal habits of wailing to frighten people and its similarity in appearance to a disembodied head are shared by various mythological creatures. One of these is the nukekubi, which shares the similarities of nocturnal habits, flying about as a decapitated head, and wailing to increase its victims' fright. Another possible origin is the banshee, a female spirit from Gaelic folklore who was known for its unearthly wailing and screaming.

Misdreavus's first two anime appearances both involved Legendary beasts (Raikou and Entei).

Misdreavus can be seen as a parallel to Murkrow. Both are Generation II Pokémon whose evolutionutilizes a Dusk Stone, and their evolved forms were both introduced in Generation IV. Misdreavus is exclusive to Pokémon LeafGreen, Pearl, and White while Murkrow is exclusive to FireRed, Diamond, and Black.

Misdreavus is listed after Murkrow in the National Pokédex, but its evolution, Mismagius, comes beforeMurkrow's evolution, Honchkrow.

Misdreavus was the only Ghost-type introduced in Generation II.

So, unfortunately we have to say goodbye to Marill and @Phlop  By an inexplicable reason, they gave up, Maybe Marill did it as a protest because of all the prejudice against unevolved pokemon, who knows 

Also, Misdreavus is safe in the next round.
