Its not like they can afford their benefits tho, hence very high deficits

 

Italy also has a very low retirement age around 60 while wealtheir country Germany raised it to 67 to make it more sustainable

I know, but the population has been decreasing since 2011 and Japan is still such a powerful country in every way, it's not like they're becoming a Gilead-ish kind of country, they could look for other ways to fight those damages instead of telling people "You don't have children? Thank u, next". I mean, Japanese people has always been very loud about how smart they are, so find another way.

Japan is only having faster population decline issues because #1 their birth rate declines happened longer ago so with older generations that were born in larger groups now dying off, the decline has began

 

#2 most wealthy nations accept enough immigrants to offset natural decline while Japans xenophobic culture accepts too few to help

They would definitely benefit from immigration. I used to be obsessed with Japan when I was younger and discovered J-Pop. Their culture and way of life is very disciplined and high-strung. This comes as no surprise to me.

The only possible solution is less hours of work and that both parents have break time in their jobs at the same time the children leave school.

If they keep working that amount of hours, they will never have even the time to make a family

In other developed countries the problem usually is that jobs are not well paid and it's difficult to find a stable jog. In Spain you can't almost find a job with a long term contract until you're in your 30s. So if people can't save money to buy an appartment and raise their children until their mid 30s, the birth rate will still be that low

They should start admitting migrants. There's millions of Chinese, Indians, Philippinos, Russians and Indonesians who would love to work in Japan and pay for their social services, but they prefer to keep their country homogenous. That's their choice, sure, but this is the result. It's the only thing I can think of that would be a 'quick' solution. In the meantime they can work on destroying the sexist working culture and current working culture in general that disincentivizes female employment and disincentivizes productivity. I talked to a Japanese girl who worked 118(!!!!!!) hours a week, excluding travel time.

 

In the long term, I think that all countries will experience this problem. China most of all. Good for the climate - I think we should 'aim' for a global population of a billion in the long term - but bad for economics. We don't know how to deal with a zero-growth economy. On the other hand, I think European countries could handle the situation Japan is in right now way better, because the public debt burden in Europe is much lower and people here are really allergic to government deficits.

How, and why do people work such long hours? Is there any need for that extra money than the usual amount of hours? No way is there that much work to need/want to work 118 hours a week.

Some said Indonesian economy is getting worse. They keep blaming the president. But it ain't gonna stop them keep producing kids. 

They should stop making kids like Japan, to many stupid people in Indonesia.

I've been to Japan. I love the people, they are so kind and polite. The city is so clean and beautiful. Don't get me started on their culinary. 

I myself don't plan on having kids. They are to much of a burden.

Ok..policy impacts this demographic ..but cheap labor vs.industrialized manufacturing based economy.....population wealth and education dictate.
