my personal opinion is that 2013 in general, was a dark time for music, i mean blurred lines was considered a hit

i don’t know. Everyone always said “omg remember how bad ARTPOP tanked” but like I remember it very clearly, and it wasn’t as bad as people say it was. Yeah, she wasn’t as critically acclaimed at the time (she had a lot of haters) but ARTPOP outperformed almost every single album released that year.

Joanne was released in 2016 though, which makes its performance a lot better compared to ARTPOP but I see what you mean (and yes DWUW was 100x bigger than PI)

They were only released three years apart. Even with Joanne’s inflated numbers, ARTPOP still did slightly better. 

ARTPOP pure sales were 251,000

Joanne’s pure sales were 170,000.

The first mistake for her is doing Born this way as an album, which I am happy she did. She lost almost all her fans back then for doing an LGBT related album, especially she lost the media support and love, during that time the media loved Adele, reflecting absolutely on Gaga's image, back then it was a big scandal and you could basically kill your career with such an album. Today is a little different with Taylor Swift and her You need to calm down thing. It's not risky. The last couple of years have been so woke in the US for any kind of rights. It's very different. People who were there during the BTW era would understand me without the need to explain my post here. In a short term it was a mistake, actually not a mistake, but a risk,  but in a long term it was the best step she took, because today BTW is one of the most iconic albums of all time.

I agree with you. 
I feel as though she needs a whole new team. It’s no good just running a business with “friends”. 
she needs people who tell her like it is. It’s as though the lot of them (including Gaga) are too scared to say no to each other. 
 

keep friends and business separate.
