What do you guys think was the album or era that ended the beginning of her career? I think it’s probably late 2013, after the release of ARTPOP, but I know some of y’all may have a different idea (maybe after BTW, after CTC...) So where do y’all place it

I actually think it’s perfect that ARTPOP ends with Gypsy and Applause, because they both do a really good job at both ending the album and that part of her career (sonically).

It never ended, it has changed and evolved with time. Of course she isn't as commercially popular anymore but thats a good thing. ARTPOP had to happen so she could have a resurgence and do ASIB and AHS. C2C showed her fierce vocals and people appreciated her more. It hasn't ended and never will it just goes to another level, she's and Oscar winner now !

C2C - Joanne. Then she sorta rose back with ASIB But she wasted the hype and now ppl are losing interest again.

Definitely with ARTPOP. It’s a fitting end to her rebellious dance pop era, as Cheek to Cheek, Joanne, and A Star Is Born showed us a softer and more “traditional” (though still boundary pushing) pop idol. I’ll be interested to see if ASIB is the end of the second act of her career (endearing her to people who were formerly critics) before LG6 issues in the new act with a bang or if LG6 is a continuation of her current arc.

ARTPOP, definitely. Cheek to Cheek marked a whole new era in her career.

So you think her first 3 albums were all in the  beginning of her career?

The very very beginnings of her fall? I would say Judas, I think it definitely damaged her image a bit, and BTW singles weren't that strong WW.

Then we come to the official fall, which is IMO, overexposure and the fact that GP thought Gaga was repetitive with ARTPOP era

Yeah I definitely think we will look back at Gaga's career and see TF - ARTPOP as the beginning and AHS Hotel/C2C/Joanne/ASIB as the next iteration. Similar to when Madonna started doing films in the late 80s/early 90s and her music became a bit more mature. Scandalous...but mature.

I'm VERY eager to see Gaga's next step with LG6. I really feel like we are in uncharted territory as she's (more than likely) going "back" to electronic dance music but we've only seen her dance persona when she's been not so stable mentally (no shade, she says it herself). She's in a great spot now and has clear intentions with her future in music (I hope). We shall see...

Im not talking about just her songs though, I’m talking about her career and how she works as a whole. That’s why I say after ARTPOP, because that’s when her team split, she grew more mature, and the way she portrayed herself vocally and physically did also.

I'm pretty sure she once said "ARTPOP will be the end of the beginning of my career" but I can't find receipts now :bradley:
