It feels cohesive, feels like quality, sounds well written and well made for the most part. One of those most solid and well done albums of this generation. Anyone who wants the “old Gaga” is naive af. That wouldn’t work, it wouldn’t make sense, it would be the downfall of her career and artistic integrity, and the magic would be gone and it wouldn’t be fun. Times change. Everything moves on. Cherish each moment because it’ll never happen again because it CANT happen again. If anyone ever tries to recreate a past moment it’ll be just that, a recreation. It was stripped back but technically most of the album was made to appease her commercial image and not tarnish what she fixed with c2c/ahs/SoM. She needed digestible music that wouldn’t be divisive. But the songs that are bad are almost unlistenable. Like terrible. And it weighs down the album for me. While there aren’t any smash hits on Joanne, it’s much more pleasing to the ears and well rounded. There is a clear sound and style to the whole thing. It feels quite authentic (for the most part) and feels a lot more fresh. It isn’t loud and in your face like half of BTW & AP, but it is a little boring. I would put it in its own group. It’s sound is way fresh and more like “real” music you could say (with the exception of a few songs). I do believe it could have been way better but it’s a step of evolution in terms of Artistry of a true Artist. Things I love about it, - It feels more authentic - It has a more fresh sound and isn’t too loud and in your face! - It feels like an album anyone could relate to. Literally anyone! (Although BTW & AP have some songs that can resonate with anyone) Things I Don’t Like, - The production does sound boring on some parts - The lyrics are too repetitive tbh. Even ARTPOP had more interesting, creative, deeper, darker & less repetitive lyrics. (Except for Venus which is so repetitive) Get Applause & G.U.Y to 1B views! I like that it’s stripped down but at the time lots of pop artists were incorporating that country ish sound like too, I don’t know maybe it’s just me being a classic Gaga stan of the early days. Sorry not sorry, even if Gaga says Joanne is more her than her earlier works, I still hold my opinion...don’t we all have that right?
