Out of her hits so only wrote Everytime and she is credited on as a songwriter on a couple of songs, sometimes even as a lead. Also, people claim she changes things up from her songs but it's not interested in crediting herself.

Spoiler

According to wikipedia

..Baby One More Time - 0 songs  as a lead songwriter

Ooops!.. I Did It Again - 1/13

Britney: 6/14

In The Zone: 9/15

Blackout: 3/15

Circus: 4/19 - one of the lead songwriters on a bonus track is Gaga here btw

Femme Fatale: 1/17

Britney Jean: 14/14

Glory:  7/17

Overall she either doesn't want to show it or doesn't have that much songwriting/ musical skills.

Someday (I Will Understand) and Everytime is a great showcase of her writing skills.

Her not having much songwriting skills kinda contradicts what you wrote in the first half of your post. :huntyga:

There are a lot of songs specifically on "Britney" "In The Zone" and "Glory" where she has the main writing credit (first position) (she also has that on every song on "Britney Jean" but not even the fans are buying that so... lol)

Not when the first half is sometimes and people claim and the second is overall:huntyga: The majority of her songs remain things she didn't wrote/ compose herself even if the indeed has songs she did. I'm looking at the credits right now and see how much did she wrote from any album.:stalkga:

Also to see that she wrote the entire Britney Jean is not flattering to her writing skills so we might as well leave it out. :sis:

If she did have that much songwriting skills she would've written everything herself. :huntyga:

lmao no :huntyga: Jive Records didn't let her have a lot of control over her music which is why she didn't have a lot of writing credits. Actually, bc of that she was afraid to show Everytime to her label lol

She also wanted to be involved in writing Britney Jean bc she wanted it to be personal but we all know how that turned out.

Plus she has a lot of songwriting credits on Glory (a lot for an average Britney album :huntyga: ) which shows that she's gradually begining to be involved with her work again.

If you look at some of the songs she wrote herself (Everytime included, but also some of her unreleased material) you'll see she does have songwriting skills lmao, so it's not bc she lacks skills, it's bc for most of her career she was pressured not to write her own material

this is the state of grace, this is the worthwhile fight

Isn’t it crazy how labels wouldn’t want a critical praise for their artists and it’s not like writing your own sht will effect sales

I didn't know she wrote nearly that many songs, so good for her, even if basically none of them are hits.

The irony of the title though, "How IS Britney's songwriting skills"

flavor of love wtf GIF

1. If we assume she didn't have a lot of control doesn't mean she had that much songwriting skills anyways. Could as well been mediocre even if she didn't get to the chance show them and also they seemed to let her get involved in various albums, like Britney Jean and In The Zone.

2. She is not gradually becoming involved again just because she had more songwriting credits on Glory. She was the most involved in In The Zone (2003) and Britney Jean. In fact she wrote half as many tracks on Glory compared to BJ so the number of self-written songs is actually declining if we are looking for a pattern.

girl no :huntyga: that's just speculation right there and unfounded at that. You're saying she lacks songwriting skills without basing it on the songs she's the main songwriter in, or, idk, the song she wrote by herself. At the time, teen pop artists had very little control in their own music, aka why artists like Backstreet Boys, Britney, etc. are seen as symbols of "puppet celebrities".  By her third album, they started giving her more control over her music but not the control she wanted, aka why the "Original Doll" controversy happened. She tried to do an album that she wanted and that she had control over and her label shut it down when they found out (which, the one confirmed song from there we have, Mona Lisa, is written by Britney and two others, tho she's the main songwriter, and it has great lyrics).

When I say that she seems more involved in Glory, it's bc you can see she's starting to do what she likes. She had songwriting credits on every song in Britney Jean yet it wasn't the music she wanted to make and you can see that by her "dedication" to the album (see: Myah Marie), whereas she had more love for Glory and it showed.
