FameMonster01 7,071
If you had to rate Lady Gaga's fifth studio album, Joanne. What grade would you give to it on a scale from 1 to 5. 1 being the lowest, while 5 being the highest? An explanation along your grade would be real nice
MaryJaneHolland 77,348
Maybe realistically it's a 3, but I'm gonna be a little biased and say 4. It includes some of my all time fav songs of her (JW, DIC, AYO).
Andreu 37,216
Imagine saying it's below average
DiamondKing 24,548
4, because it has a good amount of addicting Gaga songs (John Wayne, Perfect Ilusion, Diamond Heart, Sinner's Prayer, Just Another Day) but few songs I just can't get into (especially Grigio Girls, sometimes Come to Mama and Hey Girl)
Nikolai Barrow 1,337
Excellent! I still listen to songs from the album all the time. Diamond Heart, PI, and Sinner's Prayer are in my regular rotation.
OMonster 14,720
I voted 4, but I'd probably go for a 3.5. I think it's a really solid album and has some real gems. I also love how it differed from her previous albums and had a totally different sound. Even in terms of the production, it's really raw and not as refined or crisp as other pop records. I appreciate that. I would say, though, on the reverse - I think the production wasn't pushed further enough into where it was heading. I feel like there are a few tracks that could, with a bit of revision, be even better. John Wayne is a good example in my opinion. It's a great track, but there's something about it that feels a bit empty in it's production. It could've hit harder. Overall, a great album and in time will be seen as the saviour of Gaga's career - however surprising that sounds. subtext / fantasy
Twitter 14
4 – Joanne is a very good and personal to Gaga but her previous projects i.e. BTW and ARTPOP are excellent.
Saint Laurent 4,862
I only really love a couple of songs. I like the rest, but the album didn't meet my expectations. I also feel like the quality (for lack of a better term) of the album didn't/doesn't warrant the large gap between AP and Joanne and now Joanne and LG6. It would've worked really well as sort of ying/yang concept. I know there was a rumour going around at the time of Coachella that she was releasing a part 2, which would have made the release much more interesting imo. I totally appreciate the message that this album saved her reputation, but her reputation among her fans never needed to be saved and so Joanne's attempt to expose a more vulnerable 'mature' sound was largely lost on me. Jadeykins 1,418
3 but more 3.5 - i really respect this album as a very bold and personal move for her to make. the end result was a little more lack luster, it feels a little flat at points and the production could be better...still at points it becomes deeply personal and affecting (Joanne as an example) Joanne was someone she spoke about often throughout her career, she is clearly a huge reason why she pushes herself so much and why she made it in the first place. she said she believes that Joanne's spirit was reborn inside her and that's why she is so creative, i think she believes her job is to "be somebody" because Joanne never got that chance. I think after the ARTPOP fiasco and the disconnect with her persona and the association it had on her trauma, she really needed to tear herself apart completely and put herself back together again so she could shed all the negative baggage and truly understand who "lady gaga" actually is....i think this album will be by far the most influental to her future and will be a huge stepping stone to some truly amazing future projects. swakby 4,100
It's a 3.5 for me, realistically speaking. It's a good album, actually, but I feel like it was somehow uneventful (in terms of quality, all songs were pretty decent, nothing WOW-esque). ArtGagaPop 61,940
5, the first 7 tracks are perfect and i like the rest too. It's the gaga album i like the most to listen to from start to finish.
skedaddleBItCh 2,814
I gave it a 5 I just love the simple yet exquisite production, the straightforward yet eloquent lyrics, the Aesthetics she had gone into. It's a coherent and personal (yes, it is personal, for crying out loud, people!!!) album of hers. 🇵🇭༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽🇵🇭
