But it still went platinum, the album and tour had decent reviews, and was a major part in Gaga getting her reputation back. I think the only reason some viewed it as a flop was because they were judging it by how much her old albums used to sell. And lbr, streaming has changed the game for nearly everyone....it's really hard for Gaga, Katy, or anyone to get the numbers from 6 years ago much less 10-12 years ago. Taylor and Adele are the only ones who can open with a million nowadays, and even then a million used to not be that huge of a deal ten years ago...And the ones who succeed with streaming tend to have much younger fan bases and far less longevity when it comes to sales compared to Gaga, Pink, etc. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Some music critic called the new trend "sleepy Ambien pop" and I feel like she's catering to that more low key, slow sound that's become so common instead of going back to her roots with upbeat pop. C2C is her only album that didn't reach Platinum, her smaller debut week numbers, its tracks have least amount of streams and youtube views out of her discography.
